WHo can we play other than Neville? Gibson back and a January DM are a must.

if we use up all our draws and bad luck against weaker sides below us on the log, that only leaves us with beating the better sides above us on the log with some good luck coming our way ... something to look forward to ... and o by the way - the most wonderfull thing about yesterdays game for me (and my family) was not swearing at the ref once - glad to see there are still some good one's around .........

you must have been watching the reserves. true we beat manu but that was unexpected.

both manchester clubs and chelski are in a different league to the rest of the epl and i expect them to spend to keep it that way.

That's what the premier league wants us to think. Think outside the box. COYB.

looking at the table, its kinda reset to the start of the season again.....we're level with spurs, and arsenal are just behind us.....plus surprisingly for all the good press we've got, teams like West ham & fulham are just 2 points behind us.....west brom can go level with us if they beat southampton....

had we been offered that in august, we'd have been delighted to be amongst the teams fighting for 4th spot......but i'm disappointed as i really think we've played well enough to have atleast a 6 point cushion between us and the rest mentioned...

as i said in a different thread, we've still to have a bad spell, and when that comes we could easily fall back 6 or 7 places in a few weeks.....

    -----------------

we are going through a bad spell, we're getting draws and not wins.
I'm happy tho, beats fighting our way out of bottem for 4 months

hard to be completely objective but bearing in mind there is a natural media bias towards the bigger club I think most pundits admit Unied and City have scraped results with very clinical finishing and dogged defence, not to mention a natural self belief and favouritsm from officials. Pretty sure we have created more chances and played more positive football, may ot last but its true as we speak

Our football,at the moment,is far superior to (at least) 17 teams,in the Prem.

We've got nothing to worry about, this season.

Worry when Davey stalls on his contract.

Given that many people think he is too negative at times and given the attacking quality we have in the squad with almost all those players on long term deals, is Moyes' position still that untouchable?

I'm not sure it is, don't get me wrong i am a big big fan of his but, hypothetically, would an attack minded manager such as martinez get more out of our squad than moyes has in recent games. for example would he, martinez, have stuck with Neville in midfield or switched to three at the back letting coleman and baines off the leash, it's just a thought but a more open mind may have got us those few points i think our attacking play deserved from a few of this seasons games?

Who exactly are these players we have that would allow us to play 3 at the back and not have Neville in midfield?

Overall very happy with table standing. However, there are some points we should've had and that is a little disappointing. We won't stay in the 4th spot long on draws. We HAVE to start winning. The offense looks pretty good, the defense (minus Jagielka) hasn't been too good. Need to start these games better too. Can't keep coming back from behind and conceding early goals, especially the awful ones like in the QPR game. :-ss

i think there is an unhealthy obsession with Moyes in some quarters,in fact there is generally too much importance given to every manager. look at how many are feted as geniuses at one club where everything falls for them and look abysmal somewhere they don't fit. Moyes negativity has cost us points in the past and this season has proven that a more open style doesn't mean we will crumble. No doubt that he has proven to be a good judge of players on the whole and good man manger with many of them and not clear what we would lose if we did lose him, but there seems to be a very strong backroom team and that is main worry for me about a new manager coming in. would still love someone working alongside him who is more positive but think he would use that as his excuse to get off

Then we have 3 positions with zero backup and we still don't have anyone to replace Neville in midfield.

only talking hypothetically mate, but that system doesn't need a "holding" midfielder in the classic sense like this

    howard

    Jonny Jags Distin

    Coleman Baines

    Fellaini Osman
    Mirallas Pienaar
    Jelavic

I don't understand what you mean. Our system isn't hugely different from that. If anything, the one we have is actually more attacking!!

moyes negativity has been largly forced upon him due to the size of our squad and the players within that squad. due to his budget he has had to buy players at the right price when they are available at that price. there have been occasions when he has got team sellection wrong. but it is very easy to criticise after the event

We are playing as well as any of the top sides and with a bit of luck could have been 2nd or 3rd at the moment. We're doing OK.....

    That's essentially a 3-4-3. We play more 4-4-1-1.
