I don't want to think about it happening but im really curious as to who we could get as a replacement if he did leave (does anyone else play like he does?). Assuming we have £30m who would you buy and would that mean any changes to tactics, formation, etc.?

I'd get the Ofoe bloke Moyes wanted. I'd then try for M'Vila or someone similar who is a solid CDM. Butland in goal. I would have gone for Holtby to play RM and put Mirallas as our CF but after what he said about Liverpool I'm not so sure. It'd look like this:

                      Butland
    Coleman - Jags - Distin - Baines
    Holtby - Ofoe/Gibson - M'Vila - Pienaar
                      Mirallas
                       Jelavic

However, Fellaini will leave for £15m because that's how things work with Everton.

£30m is conservative, if this season's games are evidence. He's in Ronaldo/Messi territory, IMO. What happened to the notion that he has a release clause in his contract?

There's nobody like Fellaini so to replace him would be impossible, but, if we could get Santi Cazorla from Arsenal, or two players of that ilk in midfield, his loss won't be anywhere near as impactful IMO. As long as the player/s we bring in are comfortable on the ball.

felli would be a serious loss but no-one is irreplaceable. price depends on what someone will pay for him. my guess is 20mill would be tops.

People aren't going to pay more than 20m for him because we're Everton and while we like to think we hold clubs out for the last penny, in reality, they exploit us because we have no money.

Ronaldo - United - 80m. If he was at everton he'd probably have been 40m.

I get what you're saying, in general, but with Fellaini we paid £15m. With the level he's playing at there's no way we would take £20m, and if we did, the fans would go batshi.t crazy. I know I would.

why can't we talk about how much we may get selling decent pies instead of this all the time.

must say, had a scouse pie at the Derby match, excellent quality in my view and good value for money, highly recommended !

in the 80s the pies were seriously dangerous. some strange grey grizzle with bits of odd white chewy bits and piles of grease that could burn through metal and pastry that had to be banned from the ground when they banned bottles. if its better than that then we are a club going places

Happened before with Rooney. "We won't sell for less than £50m". He goes for 25.

tried to explain the important difference between scouse and stew to my girlfriend and realised I sounded insane. but then same thing used to happened wihen I talked about dinner and apparently meant lunch. this isnt't working though, people still want to sell Fellaini rather than pies

as Fellaini isnt a disruptive influence and has so much time on his contract is it naive to think that his value depends on what he is doing when we may have to sell him in few years. I doubt many players have a serious sell on clause that means a club is forced to sell at that amount. i mean could he really walk out of his contract if we don't sell him

It's believable. He is good enough to play for teams with a realistic hope of winning the Champions League. It would represent a reasonable compromise between running his contract down and leaving on a free (which was an option to him), and tying himself to EFC for the length of the contract, with any future club put off by a huge transfer fee- should he decide to move on. It is up to our club to give him the incentive to stay, by doing what it takes to qualify for the CL- even if that means letting a few moths out of the wallet.

depends on the timescale. I think lack of cover in the squad could mean we are fifth or sixth this season, maybe next, but if Fellaini stays then Champions League is probable in the next few seasons as the rest of the squad looks unlikely to leave. we need cover and some of the youngsters to develop but that seems more likely than not. makes it worth telling Fellaini he is going nowhere while we need him and risk him going for free if it all goes wrong. Just don't see him as a sulker
