Moyes Said Judge Our Start After 10 Games

So now that we're 10 games in, I think the common consensus would be that 17 points is a decent start, but it should have been a fantastic start with at least 23 points. At the same time, I'd say every team in the PL feels they've left some points behind. But maybe not as many as us.

We're too open, we look like conceeding every time we're attacked and something needs to change. 6 games in a row now, we've gone behind in less than 15 minutes. Against Leeds, Southampton, Wigan, QPR, RS and now Fulham.

Pienaar and Jelavic are both quieter than 2nd half of last season. Mirallas has some improving to do but has been a good addition overall. The failure of the Vadis transfer has probably been costly. Naismith has been largely disappointing but may still prove successful.

But all in all, not a fantastic start, but one I would have settled for 3 months ago!

Happy with where we are, not our recent results. 3 games in a row we've conceded silly goals.

About sums it up mate... The last four have really highlighted defensive frailties... Hence consensus we need a solid defensive midfielder...

    Am happy over all...

The last line here is the clincher mate.....as I've just said if we were told in the summer we'd have 4th spot after 10 games we would all have been delighted.

    People have short memories.

One thing though....don't think Naismith has had a fair chance to prove himself.

I always look for 2 points per game on average.Finish with 76

Above that, you challenge for the league.

    Below that mid table.

    1 point per game,relegation battle.

We've got 17 points from a poss' 30.We should be on 20 points.

We would have been clear of that number if some terrible decisions didn't go our way,but they DO even out.

    Table doesn.t lie.

You have to look at this both ways I suppose we have dropped 10 points at Newcastle, QPR, Wigan, Cheats and Fulham that we could of easily won had our defense and Neville not been so utterly terrible. On the other hand 4th place if we carry and finish in that position we will all be celebrating come May. The transfer of Ofoe has cost us so badly its ridiculous Neville has done more harm than good since he has been playing in that position however Moyesy should of had the cop on to change it.

We need Gibson back so much and we also need another player for that position, We need another centre back and maybe another striker still not convinced Jelavic can do it all on his own he has looked knackered.

looking at the table, its kinda reset to the start of the season again.....we're level with spurs, and arsenal are just behind us.....plus surprisingly for all the good press we've got, teams like West ham & fulham are just 2 points behind us.....west brom can go level with us if they beat southampton....

had we been offered that in august, we'd have been delighted to be amongst the teams fighting for 4th spot......but i'm disappointed as i really think we've played well enough to have atleast a 6 point cushion between us and the rest mentioned...

as i said in a different thread, we've still to have a bad spell, and when that comes we could easily fall back 6 or 7 places in a few weeks.....

Our football,at the moment,is far superior to (at least) 17 teams,in the Prem.

We've got nothing to worry about, this season.

Worry when Davey stalls on his contract.

If you project 1.7 points per game over a whole season, it works out at 64\65 points. Probably wouldn't be enough to still be 4th.

As for the bad spell. The teams around us will have one also.

If we get past 30 points before christmas and add to the squad we will have a better second half to the season. We also need to jib Neville right off..

Dos. Nevs a legend, without him we'd be relegated by now.

He is nearing the end of the line but give the guy some credit.(not from Andy Van the lagers autobiography, obv)

we cannot deny that we do not take our chances at the moment - dominated the last 4 games and drew them all - not good enough in my books - especially against all sides below us on the table - if we carry on playing that way we are only going one way - and that is not up the table - at this stage we are relying on other sides also playing badly - that won't last

5 games we've drawn which should have been wins. Every game I believe we should have won. Newcastle, Wigan, QPR, Liverpool and now Fulham. 10 extra points puts us first. We should be first, but we've let games slip by conceding stupid goals (and the officials were on our back against Newcastle and Wigan).

just looking at the table feels good. If we keep on that form, improve our defensive play and get some luck, we're on a promising route. What a fantastic team we have, when Gibson's back on the pitch there's no stopping us, and in january I bet with the number of our players Moyes will come up with another bargain! ;-) COYB. NSNO . Really feeling those four last letters. NSNO!

We have played much better football than Man Utd and Man City. The need for defensive midfield cover is glaring and so is someone to organise the defence from the word go. 27 shots today at a ground that has been a nightmare for us in the past is amazing but its still frustrating, maybe the lost points in games we have dominated will even out but I really doubt it. Can't help shake the horrible feeling we will be a few points off fourth at the end of the season, but have been hoping for years to be watching us play stylish football that keeps us in and around the top. Job done.

People keep saying we're playing good football. I agree, but that's not enough. The number of wasted chances against Fulham was unbelievable. What do we have to do to score more? Other teams like Man U have less chances and score more than us.

sadly the only way to solve it at a stroke would be spending ridiculous money on three strikers who score even when the team isnt playing well. the solution that is available to us is to have someone who is steadying the nerves of the whole team so that nobody is snatching at shots or feeling like every chance is crucial because we may concede out of the blue. Gibson will help but it may just turn round when they completely believe they belong where they are.
