IhateRS said:You can say it as many times as you like its irrelevant. How many players do you think we would have to sell to make the Ethihad? bearing in mind of course they then spent hundreds of millions on players to entice fans to come and pay for these things.. It cost them 20mil just to make their 66 boxes. We would have no team left if we bought a stadium as that is the only source of money we have, and do we even have 66 fans with enough money to buy the things for a year? And even if we did it would take decades to pay back the money from the profits the boxes make.
Disregarding the vast sums of money we would lose on league positions through the inevitable player sales to finance this long term plan it simply doesn't make sense.
They are a great asset to have but would take decades to make a return on if your using that as the basis for a new stadium.
Now is the time to go for position not stadium. The money throughout the league with the new TV deal means everyplace is worth gold.. When that bottoms out is when we go for a stadium I reckon as attendance figures will make far more difference to our finance.

Jxg said:Making 66 boxes, at £30-50k per game (some will be higher, remember, so even if they all don't sell out it will average at 30) is just short of £2m a game. If it costs £20m to make those boxes, that's only 10 games until it is repaid.

Here's Chelsea's per game price list and lets face it we are not even close to being able to match their income.

E U regs/health & safety etc in the next 5 - 10 years.
Re-develop is cheaper, get on with it.
End of story.
Borrow the money, like everyone else,& re-pay using increased revenue, like everyone else.
Simple economic business sense.

brboy1 said:We are only reducing debt to make us more attractive to investors.
If some one bought the club,THEY would borrow money.
Redevelopment only increases revenue if you introduce more seating, less restricted views & more corporate facilities, which is exactly what would be done. Its pointless knocking down an old 12k seater stand & just building a new modern 12 k stand.
Better facilities, better use of space & more exec' boxes would be integrated.

brboy1 said:We can't fill current stadium 'cos of restricted view..
Our av attendance is 36k,our max is 40k.
10% of max is restricted.
Do the maths.
If we had a ,say,55k max. We'd fill half the games, easy.
The other 9 prem games we would still get more than 36k.
Better facilities create more interest, look at the park end for instance. Its the most modern facility at GP.It is behind the goal,in the 'away' end but prices are top end & is always sold out.Its what the fans want'.

33,288. Last seasons average attendance. Jxg said:My bad, got distracted. £2m a season is an ample return and in 12 seasons it will be equalled out.
