Moyes - The new Shankly?

    When I was a very small boy, Everton were the top team in Liverpool.  Then Bill Shankly, a plain-speaking, no-nonesense Scot arrived at 2nd division Liverpool and turned their fortunes around. For the next 40 years, Liverpool enjoyed that top dog position in the city.

    The Scot Shankly laid the foundations for a truly spectacular epoch in Liverpool's history.

    What I see now is almost an exact repetition of those events.

    The pendulum has most definitely swung back to Everton and we have our own plain-speaking, no-nonesense Scot in charge.

    It remains to be seen whether Everton can repeat Liverpool's glittering success in the coming years.  That's a huge ask, bearing in mind the way the modern game is ruled by financial clout.

    One thing is certain.  The future is bright for Everton FC.

    the difference is its a totally different game now , theres no way we will go on and win titles unless we get bought out, the best we can hope for is europa league or maybe sneak into 4th , its way to early to say the pendulum has turned after 5 games, but i agree the future is much brighter

    Sorry for mentioning Shankly. Oh ... soz ... done it again. Haha.

    Like I said - it is a totally different game now where the $ rules.

    I don't see us getting five European Cups ... but you never know. 

    SUCCESS BREEDS SUCCESS.

    If we continue to dominate the city, as I believe we will, EFC will be a more inviting investment prospect and a buyout is more likely.   Then anything is possible.

    If only we had a new stadium, *sigh*.

    Didn't Shankly at the end of his career begin turning to us and supporting us because the RS didn't want him back at the club, but he came to us and we invited him as a guest and he began to go to Goodison to watch us play and to our training complex etc?

    ... but then he left.  Tragic loss. The Euro ban played its part in that but that's another debate on which I have VERY strong opinions, not at all complimentary to our neighbours.

    great post downsie. same with  me,supported efc since the mid 50's. shanks was a football genius. pity he managed the wrong team.

    The Rs still can't get there head around the 'blip' syndrome.

    They were sh-it for 75 - 80 years. Good for 15 - 18 years. And now back to being sh-it since 1990 into eternity.Pure blip.

    Shanks laid a foundation,load of boll-cks.Fergie done that at manure.The RS didn't have the patience or class to suffer mr Shankley.

    Phil neal was in the same team that won 4 champs league,one team wonder if ever there was one.

    Ooh what a teem the mighty blues could of been if not for outside influences?
