I dare say that the likes of Tony will be along later to pour scorn, foul abuse and vitriol on these posts but before he does so I would like to endorse every word of this post and those of Mavis and Phantom. Intelligent, well balanced sentiments very articulately expressed, decent people giving a decent man credit for his efforts.

Welcome to the blueroom Mr Kenwright i mean mr 356789667899033565 or whatever number you are :-D

I agree in some respects about what your saying as I remember the bad days of Mr Johnson when he would f00k us over for a bag of chips but i do think we need investment and with Kenwright in charge im not to sure we will get it in time before all the other teams around us start buying players that will take them up the league. Yeah we have got some great players on the cheap but how many times can Moyes pull rabbits out of cows ar_ses?? other teams are becoming wise to him now in if Moyes goes for a player other teams then offer more money because they know Moyes has dneo his homework and the player he wants could be the next Cahill, Baines, Fellaini, Jags etc

I don't have much to add to this thread as i think it encompasses everything that can be said and is quite balanced overall as we are not blinkered to the deficiencies of our money management or the lack of investment apparent by the rest of our errant board, but it puts thanks and offers praise for the performance of those who have delivered. Great original post by Mr Derek Joyce and good follow up from the BR.

I just knew it'd get a response from you..... That's all.

I've nothing really to say on this, except for the fact that my feelings about Kenwright are well known. Moyes has only been able to use the Rodwell money for the signings we've made so I give Moyes the credit for those rather than Kenwright. Kenwright needs to sell up and get out with his cronies. I'm not saying I want a billionaire Arab, although that would be nice, but it'd be nice just to have someone who can give Moyes between 20-40m to spend on transfers. I'm not stupid enough to say that's going to happen right away, but considering how many 'investors' have supposedly been interested, I'd have expected at least one of them to have been suitable.

How many investors in premier league clubs have actually come in and given their manager 20-40 million to spend on players? let alone given that money several times over to remain competitive? Chelsea and City are about the only examples.

My fear is that selling to 'interested' investors may well actually be a step backwards. For all we know these people might be similar to the Venkys and promise cash, look what happened to Blackburn. In reality we could be left with investors who are just as unwilling as Kenwright to use their coppers, AND without the passion that Bill clearly has.

As a life long Evertonian, I would say that I am proud of the fact we are seen as a good team without the funds of the teams around us, I don't want a rich Arab coming in and splashing money about and to be honest, I really do like our team.
    - Who in the United team would you have had instead on Sunday? who within the RS team would you play within our first team? granted go back a few years and I would have picked out a few, but not now.
We are Everton because of what we have been through year in year out, I don't want our history to change or be bought.
I trust Kenwright because Moyes trusts him.

I trust Moyes, I don't trust Kenwright. I also like our team, but we are still a bit thin in terms of squad numbers. We have the bones of a top 4/5 team, but we do need a few more top class players to cement that.

I concur. Would it really be worth celebrating if we won the league by outspending everyone else? It's a minimum requirement not an achievement.

If we can, I want us to improve year on year, growing organically. The biggest problem is that our fans are skint and less worldwide that other teams. I genuinely think we've a bit of an affinity with bits of Athens and Piraeus, and we should book a tour in there. We can't rake in money from corporate boxes either, because the ground is ancient.

But we compete, not for the title, but this year it's Abramovich v Abu Dhabi in battle of the chequebooks (though I think Chelsea woefully short at the back). Nobody can challenge that, not the RS and all they've spent these last few years, not Manure and the leeches running them. Looking at other new owners, even a perennial like Mandaric let Pompey get very precarious under his refine. Very few have brought positive change.
KEIOC? Please, and with a blue running the show.

    I concur with your concur.

Part of me wants us to stay this tight-knit community that we are. With all it's disadvantages. I dread to think how our lovely club would change with foreign ownership (take a look across the park). We have held our own magnificently in the past few seasons.

There's one team that wins the league (and Man City just scraped it courtesy of our efforts). 4 go to CL. (& a couple to Europa).
    That's the numbers.

I think we're doing OK. And this season I think we may all be surprised.

Howdy, Stranger!
