If a player has a good World Cup/Euros, then their value tends to go up by £5-10 million. Reckon we could afford him?

Juventus edge ahead of Everton in race for Croatian star

Juventus have stolen a march on Everton in the race to sign Croatia striker Mario Mandzukic.

Mandzukic, who is currently contracted to German side Wolfsburg, thrived at Euro 2012, scoring three goals.
However, the forward’s goals weren’t enough to prevent Croatia from being eliminated at the group stage, with Italy and Spain progressing from Group C to the knockout phase.
Everton boss David Moyes had identified Mandzukic as a transfer target prior to the start of the tournament as he attempts to partner Nikica Jelavic with his international team-mate.

Juventus had planned to hijack Everton’s move for Mandzukic, and Italian newspaper Tuttosport are now reporting that Juventus have ‘accelerated’ their bid to sign the forward.

The same report also suggests that Mandzukic has identified Juventus as his first-choice destination for next season.
Mandzukic’s agent, Ivan Cvjetkovic, told Tuttosport that he plans to meet with Wolfsburg officials next week to discuss his client’s future.
“On Monday I will be in Germany to talk with leaders at Wolfsburg to advance this issue,” he said.
