Is pre season important?

    Obviously we need to have a pre season for match fitness, but results wise, does it really matter whether we win or lose? People always say that it is important to go into a new season with momentum and all that, but I remember a couple of years ago when we won every match in pre season, yet we had our worst start in about 25 years! What do you think?

    I'm not saying its not nice to get a few goals against weaker sides but it's all about match fitness.

    As its gets nearer the season opener and pre season fixtures usually get tougher and go with what is likely the first team and formation for the opening game I do think results are important.

    It gives confidence to players and fans alike.

    I think it is important to play good teams, if we play lower league teams and win comfortably that momentum will give us a false sense of security. I think this years pre season schedule is good as the games gradually get harder with Malaga being the toughest and final opponents.

    I think the main priority is getting new players in early and getting them involved in the pre season fixtures as soon as possible.
