Posts: 24,216July 2012 Its betting on the probability of a set outcome. Say you think a horse will win by 5 lengths, so you would place 5 quid on that with the bookie at maybe 5/1 for example, however, if the horse were to win by 3 lengths or maybe even 8 lengths, you would then owe the bookie 5 quid for ever length you were wrong.You could do it on the footie mate, you might think we will win by 3 goals so you would bet a 5er a 'x' price, but, if we win by 1 goal or even lose by 2 goals, every goal you are wrong is a 5er to the bookie.IN short mate, unless you REALLY know what you are doing, i would not get involved, its the fast way to the poor house. My advice would be don't get involved.

Mate, its something i know about, but i'd never even get involved with it cos its just overly much hastle and hard work. Its for proper mathematics whizzes and staticians i think mate.
