Quite a good day actually, Arteta was past his prime, he's been a great player but i think needed a change of environment, good luck to him, Yakubu and Becks, Yak was past it but we have made a profit for Becks. We also have 18mil and I know probably 10 mil will go to the bank, the other 8 or so could be spent on a good player next transfer season. As for our signings, Drenthe is a great player and has speed (which we lack), and the Argentine striker seems alright from what I've seen. Even better is Drenthe has 1 yr left on his contract, meaning we could get him on a free.
    Here's my starting XI:
    Howard
    Baines
    Jags
    Distin
    Neville
    Drenthe
    Billy
    Osman
    Coleman
Cahill (or Saha) depending on formation
The new striker if any good.

Sensible and good post. Hope we are setting a trend here. Probably not. Im happy enough with deadline day. We got rid of some deadwood and a few fresh faces to cheer the changing room up along with a few youngsters that we have coming through!! Exciting times I feel.

I reckon Billy will be Arty's replacement in the middle of the pitch with drents on the wing. Injuries not included i feel something like

    ...........Howard
    Nev...Jags...Distan...Baines
    .............Felliani...................
    Coleman...Osman...Drents
    .............Billy.......................
    .........................Saha.........

Then Cahill behind and Billy to drop in to Osman's spot. This could be the moment Billy has been waiting for.

Fair post lid, but I'm concerned by the fact that, certainly in the case of Drenthe, it's only a loan deal. If he has a good season, then there will be clubs coming in for him and if any of the bigger clubs come in, he's bound to want to go there. I think we should have tried for a permanent deal and then try and make on him in the future. I still hope he does have a good season and that we sign him up permanently, because I was quite excited by the fact he was coming here. As for Strac, if he can produce the same form as he has for Tigre, then we've got another good prospect on our hands.

    My starting line-up:

    Howard
    Neville
    Jagielka
    Distin
    Baines
    Coleman
    Fellaini
    Bily
    Drenthe
    Saha
    Stracqualursi

Answer me one question, How do you know that we didn't try to sign Drenthe on a permanent deal ? do you have inside knowledge or what ? o.k that's two questions, just answer the first, we all know the answer to the second.

agreed, a great post, spot on. Losing Arteta felt like bad news but maybe now's the timefor Rodwell, & Felli to take centre stage? and perhaps now Bily will get a chance to prove one way another what he's got.

I don't think it's all that bad, Mikel was a good lad and the Yak, but |I think we've had their best days Becks tried his best and will prob do ok in the Championship, but in the Pem? Maybe a step to far?? But all in all I'm happy that Rodwell, Baines, Fella, Timmy & Jags are still with us, the 2 signing could be what we need and all the young kids coming through as well, we're in a better place than many.
Let's be positive and get behind the Club and stop all this "Kenwright out" and "Sack the Board" crap
