West Brom and Everton ready to swoop for ex-Rangers stars Naismith and Whittaker

West Brom and Everton are monitoring events with Rangers duo Steven Naismith and Steven Whittaker.
The two international rejected the transfer of their contracts to the newco at the SPL outfit.
They now consider themselves to be free agents.

    SOURCE: Daily Mail

The Glasgow side can expect many approaches for their top performers this summer, approaches from clubs who know all too well the financial pickle Rangers find themselves in and therefore all the more eager to lure away Ibrox stars for a pittance.

David Moyes picked up Nikica Jelavic for a bargain sum in January and may well be looking to put forward Steven Naismith as an ideal partner for the Croatian international. The Scottish international managed nine goals from 12 SPL game before a cruciate ligament injury ruled him out of the rest of the campaign.

New West Brom boss Steve Clarke is no doubt looking to put his stamp on the Baggies squad and Steven Whittaker an experienced right back, with almost 400 appearances to his name, and the 28 year old defender may well add more strength to the Hawthorns defence as probably a bargain price.

Everton Prepare £6m Bid for Norwich City Striker Grant Holt

Toffees boss David Moyes will look to snap up unhappy Norwich City forward Grant Holt this summer. The Everton manager, once again having to operate within a strict transfer budget, hopes to lure the Canaries marksman as he looks to beef up his attacking options.

Holt signaled his intentions to leave Norwich City last month and the departure of Paul Lambert as Carrow Road boss has merely increased speculation about the 31 year old’s future.

Moyes will make an opening £6m bid for the former Nottingham Forest man and will hope that Chris Hughton will relent and allow Holt to leave Norwich City for a move to Merseyside. Clearly the East Anglian side would be loathed to lose a striker who has netted 70 goals in 116 starts since his £400k move from Shrewsbury back in July 2009.

Everton managed 50 goals last term, a figure that could have been far lower but for the January capture of Nikica Jelavic from Rangers. David Moyes is keen to bring in other effective striking options to play alongside the Croatian or to act as back-up and sees Holt as a cost effective option in this regard.

Aside from Jelavic Everton do not have much in the way of consistent goal-scoring options. The likes of Denis Stracqualursi, Victor Anichebe, Apostolos Vellios and Magaye Gueye have failed to make an impact and having lost Louis Saha to Tottenham in January the Toffees could certainly do with bringing in a player of Holt’s calibre.

    Everton eyeing Castaignos and Lukaku

David Moyes is after Inter Milan's young forward Luc Castaignos according to the unreliable talkSPORT and his chances of landing the 19-year-old have got better now that Feyenoord have dropped out of the race to sign him.

The Italian club would apparently prefer to sell him outright rather than loan him.

Meanwhile, the Blues continue to eye a potential loan move for Chelsea's Romelu Lukaku according to the even more unreliable Caught Offside site. Also 19, the giant Belgian striker is also wanted by Aston Villa and West Ham according to the report.

West Ham have apparently been told by Inter that they can have him for £6m or loan him for £1.6m, although the Italians would prefer that he stay in Serie A if he is only going to go out on loan.

Blues in pole position for Sigurdarson

Reports from the Midlands suggest that Wolves fear they will be trumped by Everton in their efforts to sign Bjorn Bergmann Sigurdarson, with David Moyes said to have lodged a £3m bid for the Icelandic striker.

    to be outbid for Dost

Assuming he was interested in the first place, David Moyes looks set to miss out on Heerenveen striker Bas Dost after Wolfsburg lodged a £6.5m bid for the striker,

Moyes keeping an eye on Matt Phillips

The Daily Mail claims that David Moyes went to St Andrews on Wednesday night to watch Blackpool striker Matt Phillips, who just happened to score the crucial second goal to ensure his side's place in the Championship play-off final.

    oyes considers Crewe's Nick Powell

David Moyes is considering a move for Crewe's coveted midfielder Nick Powell this summer having joined a host of Premier League admirers to scout the 18-year-old at Gresty Road on Saturday.

The Everton manager, and Sir Alex Ferguson and his Manchester United assistant Mike Phelan, attended Crewe's 2-2 draw against Aldershot to watch the midfielder, whose 15 goals this season have helped the League Two club into the play-offs and attracted strong interest from Tottenham Hotspur, Arsenal and Liverpool.

Powell is rated at £3m and Moyes hopes the teenager's desire to sign for a Premier League club that can offer an immediate first-team opportunity will enhance Everton's prospects of landing the latest talent to emerge from Crewe's youth system. — Source: The Guardian .
