"Best walked out at the top of his game when he was 28, but the early start to his career still meant he had played 11 seasons for Manchester United in arguably the toughest league in the world. Pele himself once dubbed Best "the greatest footballer in the world"."

I spent a lot of money on booze, birds and fast cars. The rest I just squandered.
    George Best

I used to go missing a lot... Miss Canada, Miss United Kingdom, Miss World.
    George Best

I've stopped drinking, but only while I'm asleep.
    George Best

In 1969 I gave up women and alcohol - it was the worst 20 minutes of my life.
    George Best

I once said Gazza's IQ was less than his shirt number and he asked me: "What's an IQ?"
George Best, Best on Paul Gascoigne.

I was in for 10 hours and had 40 pints - beating my previous record by 20 minutes.
George Best, regarding a blood transfusion for his liver transplant.

He's been very, very lucky, an average player who came into the game when it was short of personalities.
    Best on Kevin Keegan.

He can't kick with his left foot, he can't head the ball, he doesnt score many goals. Apart from that he's ok.
    Best on Beckham.

Plenty of 'stars' are flawed genius' in the context of what they do.

Lack of mental strength imo, unable to cope with the pressure that come with it.

You can have some things in life, you cant have everything.

Nah nowhere near the greatest, his character got him attention and his indiscipline costs him his life, not an idol I want my son to look up to.
