    This is my reflection on my experience on this forum.

    We need to welcome & embrace new posters & their opinions. This (as far as I am aware) is a forum for Everton fans. Not for a minority to completely monopolize every thread. And turn it into their own personal joke-fest which the rest of us just don't get.

    There are lady posters on here. I would hope (& I know this is the case with the male Evertonians I know) that there should be allowance for that. But somehow it's like we don't matter. Or anyone who dares to disagree.

    Sambo this is no reflection on you at all. In fact, you are like the Evertonians I know. You have respect, even though you may not agree with the opinions expressed. Idi, I have just begun to get you. There are others too, who recognize others' opinions on here.

    But there are also other posters on here who dismiss others as idiots, because they don't agree with the clique. Sometimes in the name of humour. But some posters are humiliated, ridiculed & cast off into no-man's land. And it"s a bit like being back at school.

    This is an Everton supporters forum. Takes all sorts. And everyone's opinion should be respected (not necessarily agreed with). But we are all united in our love for this club.

    And I for one would like to welcome (and keep) more supporters on this forum, male & female. And I think EFC would agree.

    I think Sheila that, and you have said in your post that you your self are starting to pick up on people's little ways and traits, when you are a 'newbie' its some times easy to take what people are saying the wrong way. Especially on the internet as its in black and white so when people type something, its easy to take what they say the wrong way, when, it could be meant in a jovial way or as banter.

    Think it would be hard for people to change their personalities and how they act just because some body is new to the forum. If people were to stick around, (which i can understand people taking offense if posting for the first time etc at what people say some times) they would probably get to know people and see that most (if not all) the people on here are decent and easy to get on with people. Think some of the banter from people is a little bit like an initiation, to test the water, see if people can take a joke or hack the banter. You have been on a few weeks now and you have picked up on ut in no time, so im sure there is no reason why other people, IF they can be bothered to take the time to get to know people, they will soon learn to understand what people are like??

    I od agree though, it is good to get new people on here, and we should try and keep people posting, its great to get to talk to and get to know different people, and its always good to hear other people ideas view points and opinions on Everton and all other subjects that people wish to discuss :)

    But BEG & I could be excluded from 90% of the discussions on here purely by the content.

    I'm just asking for a bit more consideration of all users of this forum. We come on here to be united but often end up being anything but....

    I have been on this forum pre and post the shutdown as have quite a few of you, I don't always post but I do read what's going on most days and I honestly think that's a harsh assessment, this forum is full of characters as in life. Some people are just jerks on or off the internet' but I for one think that most on here are not, some are an acquired taste but mainly it's about the craic and sometimes even football.

    Being a newbie doesn't give you immunity from a good ribbing if there is an opportunity and when there is it can be merciless but most people will expect it, we are footy fans we go the game we shout we swear we take the pee and yes we sometimes will vehemently defend our opinion but IMO there is no cyber-bullying on here and if you don't like a particular thread you can move to another it doesn't usually bleed over. 

    Unless of course I have completely missed the point, if so I apologise and cast withering looks to the rest of you for not playing nice.

    But then the point of the thread seems to disintegrate into who can out-wit who. And you usually win!!!

    yeh this place has deffo gone downhill here. ive been posting on here since its inception. always glad to hear peoples points of view but there is a gang mentality here. especially of late, and even posters on here now with a genuine question and curiousity either get a totally non related response or get ridiculed. its a shame. I always look on here but i deffo dont post as much as i used to because of this

    The best thing to do on here is tell people if you find something offensive. Most will usually apologise as they don't set out to offend.

    sorry. i think your wrong. a lot of people do offend people on here and blatanly so. people who apologize for blaltant remarks on here very very rarely apologize. hence wy i think many users have left and never returned

    Au contraire. I can take a joke along with the best of them. That's why I'm still on here. My point was that most threads seem to end up being a contest of who can outwit who. And that sometimes the point of the thread is completely lost in that battle. In fact most of the time.

    And that some threads are completely inconsiderate of the female members. And some threads do end up in name-calling & put downs.

    In the classroom or the workplace or Facebook even that would be considered bullying.

    So I'm not sure this forum should be any different. That's all I was trying to convey. We can all have a laugh & a joke & a tease. But sometimes it does go a bit beyond that.

    Sheila I'll extend my apologies to you of you have found any of my comments sexist or crude etc.

    Sometimes its easy to forget that your audience is not necessarily just those commenting on your thread or posts.

    In regards to name calling and put downs I try and keep it for those who instigate an argument or post to be provocative. I can't say I'll stop that......

    As Sambo says unfortunately a lot of the time it is banter and is not directly meant to offend.

    See I did miss the point in the main. So I apologise.


    However, a lot of the name calling tends to go on between certain people who have a history on here and generally argue over anything. I don't really see people getting bashed for just expressing themselves, but maybe I read it different than you do. I would say though that the forum is not an age appropriate one and that some of the mocking is close to the knuckle, but you have almost managed to keep this one thread on topic, is that ironic?

    I didn't mean any offence to your ability to take or make jokes etc some of your stuff with Sambo et al has made me chuckle I was talking just in general terms.

    Forum layout sucks and should be updated. More sections, categories etc. Every thread that is made is on one page for all to see, so that can lead to problems i guess. To be honest the forum is boring the way it's laid out, no offence web design team :)

    The one common thread on this thread is that no-one has (yet!) called anyone names or put anyone down because of their view. In itself a major achievement.

    Winston & Smigone - you haven't ever offended me personally. So no need to apologise. And quite right in your observation that it has somehow managed to stay on thread!

    Let's hope for more like it.
