According to various sources, Everton manager David Moyes could be
ready to raid Glasgow Rangers for star striker Steven Naismith.
The
Scotland international had a release clause of £2million inserted in
his contract after accepting a 75-per-cent wage cut in February.
Obviously
the Everton manager would have asked the opinions of Nikica Jelavic and
Everton coach David Weir. Both played in the Rangers team with Naismith
and by all accounts gave him a good reference.
With funds low as
ever at Everton, the £2m price tag is appealing. Naismith hasn't played
for months having been out injured with a damaged cruciate ligament, so
his fitness maybe a problem.
With the Rangers saga dragging on, it could be that Naismith would
leave as one of the top earners. The Scottish International has played
15 times for his country scoring 2 goals. As well as playing 140 times
for Rangers scoring 33 times.
Naismith said: 'I have no say over who takes over
the club or what happens in business terms, but I have a three-year
contract. It really is that simple. Now, things can change and I can
have decisions to make. But it will still be in my control.'

EPLWarrior said:Wouldn't be too bad, but 140 games with a return of 33 goals, though I just checked his wikipedia, he's already with us apparantly! :O
But with that goal-return I hope he'll be a player that gets 10+ assists with just a couple of goals, It might spark a bit of life into Anichebe and Cahill if we keep him, now that we get two decent hard working strikers to challenge for their places in the squad,
