Back in 2004 Gregg offered to pay off our £40M debt if Kenwright and Woods would resign from the board, but they both refused.

Does anyone wish that Kenwright and Woods would of resigned and let Gregg takeover the club as he would be the majority shareholder?

We would of  had a different owner but we would of had no debt at the time and a lot less debt than we have today.

If Gregg is so clever and rich, how did he manage to be beaten by BK. More likely the best man won..........

Because he was a minority shareholder,I suppose..

My recollection is that he was willing to provide the £30mill for Kings Dock in return for control of the club.

    Bill wouldn't agree.....sound familiar?

You haven't forgotten Bill even borrowed money from Gregg's wife?

    Best man my a.rse.

I remember Gregg being interested in Everton shares over a new stadium. Which is to say that he saw the potential to make a profit out of Everton should they manage to move to a more modern home.

At no point during Everton's stadium pursuit did Gregg look to take a controlling stake in the club. And it is fairly common knowledge that the Kings Dock falling through had nothing to do with Gregg what so ever. (In fact, you might even want to look again at the 'blue union transcript' for that, funny how you mob never pick out that point though isn't it?)

But I do remember Gregg looking to take a controlling stake in Everton when it became clear that Everton were about to sell Wayne Rooney though. And many will remember Gregg hiring a PR firm to help raise support amongst the fans for his bid to gain control of the club in the lead up to Manchester United putting a lot of money into Everton FC bank account.

And also something called the Fortress Sports Fund and a certain Christopher Samuelson* entering stage left with a plan for new investment in the club which gave Mr Kenwright and the board pause for thought. Mr Kenwright asked for time to be able to conclude the deal with Fortress Sports Fund and the board agreed as per the rules by which the company must abide.

Time though, didn't really have much effect on the Fortress Sports Fund deal. But time did have an effect on the situation with Gregg. Enough time passed to allow the ink to dry on Wayne Rooney's contract and for Moyes to get it spent on football players.

Strangely enough, Mr Gregg didn't continue with his attempt to gain control of Everton after that. His PR company was dismissed, and he set about selling his shares and moving on to his next target for making himself richer.

Business man in trying to make money out of an investment shocker.

Think what you like about Gregg, he could have tried to taken control of Everton at any point before or after Rooney was sold. And as a board member he'd have known that Rooney was going to be sold and what Kenwright wanted to do with the Rooney money while we were all avoiding newspapers and holding stoically to the belief that once a blue really did mean always a blue.

Strange then that he made such a big attempt to get control of the club for such a specific moment in the clubs history isn't it? And stranger still that once the Rooney money was spent and committed to player deals that he should lose interest so suddenly?

One thing is for sure, had Gregg got hold of the club then we'd still have a squad that resembles the one Walter Smith had, and you can't really imagine Moyes would be here either. After all, its the Rooney money he's being gambling and trading with ever since.

*Christopher Samuelson is a wealth consultant. He aides and enables the worlds richest people to avoid paying tax across global boarders by using a network of companies and investment vehicles. I'd wager Philip Green is a client.

Howdy, Stranger!
