Can someone please tell me why Mikel Arteta continues to take direct freekicks when Baines has been nailing them!
I cannot remember the last time Arteta has scored from a freekick let alone get past the wall..

    This also applies for corners

They seem to alternate between them a bit, but Baines has definatly been getting it at least over the wall more recently so he should be taking the majority. With corners though they are both guilty, although I think we go about our set pieces all wrong because whenever the ball is put in the players never seem to be anywhere near it or no one is taking a chance

the problem with baines is if he is taking the free kick who is at left back.

we have been lucky against lower teams, but against the top6 they could make you pay.

you cant expect baines to always be forward, he also has defensive duties as a left back.

Doesn't Baines stand over the ball with Arteta?

The answer is in a gossip column I read. Everton go in for the Chelsea reserve left back on loan (who is class) and push LB to left midfield. That's what dreams are made of - which is all us blues have - but how good would that be .......?

Thanks Sambo - I thought that's what I'd said. It's only a rumour (which is what I said) and unlikely to happen (which is what I said) but it would be brilliant to have a quality left back on loan to realease LB into an attacking midfield role - which would mean more free kicks and I agree more goals than MA can provide.
