Arteta........

Had a few txt's off mates who haven't seen the game, cheering Arteta's name because he scored a last minute penalty.

Since he has signed his 75k a week he has done nothing. How is he still taking corners and free kicks, he never clears the wall, just smashes it into the first man.

Last week is the perfect example, Baines hits the crossbar, with a stunning free kick, Arteta comes on, and takes one a couple of meters back from Baines earlier one, and he blasts it into the wall. Baines would have buried it.

Today I forgot he was on the pitch until he stood up for the penalty.

He isnt the only one at the minute who needs to stand up and raise their game, every one of them today was shocking.

We won today, but I feel worse than I did after last weekends defeat to QPR.

Think Arteta dictates too much and Moyes can't control him.

Last season Moyes came out and said Arteta was off set piece duty

Next game Arteta pushes Baines aside and takes another poor freekick

Baines is so much better with dead ball situations though. Getting so annoyed with people saying we should keep onto our better players, and including Arteta in this.

He was brilliant when we signed him, with an average squad around him, he looked quality, but as the squad has improved he has been left looking distinctly average at best.

There is a reason he hasn't been capped by Spain

True but I was expecting Arteta to blast it straight at Robinson, about waist height... Same technique as all of his free kicks and corners.

that seems to make sense to me, but for some reason we seem to intent on keeping hold of players jsut for the sake of it, when maybe the time has come to let a couple go, dirves me crackers more than anything else tbh

He scored the winner, but he had a poor game, and with the money he gets I would expect better.

I'm grateful for the fantastic football and loyalty MA has brought to Everton. Unfortunately he isn't the player he once was - Baines has true class with free kicks and DM must make sure he is the one to take them. Everyone groaned out loud when MA walked up to take the pen - what does that tell you.

I'm happy for MA to go to Arsenal - but only of we get top money......Wegner thinks he hold's all the aces and get everyone cheap - 8-2 Arsen 8-2 ....put up or shut up.

His pen was good but I think I would rather have Baines on Pens

Shame the ball was on floor when he gave away the pen then.

His head isn't right and has had 3 shocking games at fault for 2 goals and gave a pen away in the other.

He was also poor in pre-season

Didn't think he could get any worse than he was last season but i was wrong
