Yes but in Uraguay using your hand to score is a sign of sportsmanship.

If they say it was instinct that's bs. He was practically on the line that a touch from his big teeth would of been enough. Little bollix

we put up with it for the tekkers. and I know this isn't the only incidence of his sportsmanship, but I know back with the school football team if I or anyone else had 'scored' a goal with a handball we would have tried to claim it - just looks worse with television replays to prove it.

fair point jay but at schoolboy level you can get away with it so why not, no tv highlights after so you get away with it happy days. you do it at the highest level sure you can get away with it the odd time if the officials don't see it but after with the highlights you get found out to be a cheat

Him and people like him and modern television are the reason kids would cheat and think its ok, I know it sounds like a cliche but it just wouldn't have been done in my day especially not in schoolboy football. We now live in a world where it is the perceived wisdom that cheats prosper, thanks for nothing Louis you bucktoothed loser.

It just shows him up as the devious biting diving cheat that he is. All the refs now know it and they will be looking out for it, result as far as I'm concerned......

Well yeah, in general cheats do prosper, at least in the short term. Not using that as an excuse like, I admit he does go overboard sometimes. But he does get a bit of a harsh rub of the green. If you watched MoTD tonight, when Figueroa pulled him back he tried to keep going - he doesn't always go down when he could, but people pick up on the odd dive (which Bale for instance is just as, if not worse with) a lot more. and as iceablue said, the refs do look out for it a lot more, like when Ronaldo was in the prem - and he gets brought down without the foul being given fairly frequently because of it.

He has no sense of sportsmanship or care for his fellow player. I still think his handball on the line against Ghana and his celebration after the penalty is saved is one of the worst things I've seen in football. For all the ability he has, he's probably the biggest cheat in football.

When they signed im i thought he was good enough ter cancel out the £THIR-TY FIVE MILLION they blew on carroll... I have red family so i try ter be fair... but as a sportsman... hes a disgrace.

I dunno, maybe I'm a **** myself but if I were playing for England in a world cup, I would happily handball it on the line to save my team at the death. It's like when defenders bring down the pacey guy on the break - players will take the foul and the punishment that comes with it for the good of the team. He shouldn't have celebrated admittedly, but if Gyan had scored the penalty, nobody would even mention it anymore.

Me nephew plays to a decent level n he saw a handball on tv ter put a wayward ball in... his reaction was "youve got ter get the goal"... I was shocked. I'd never do it... but at pro level it is expected... but luis still takes it ter a new level...

I hear that a lot about anyone else would do it but personally I'd feel terrible if we had to resort to that to win a game. Its what was mentioned earlier in this thread, the winning at any cost mentality now seems to cover cheating as well and its ruining football.
