"One of his ideas is that “everyone in the Premier League takes a 20 per cent pay cut to put football finances back on an even keel and allow a significant reduction in ticket prices to make football more affordable for the ordinary fan.”

When he joined Everton in March 2002, Moyes famously called it the ‘people’s club’. He dearly wants football as a whole to remain the people’s game."

Great idea, but what are the chances?

LOl moyes can talk about wages he is one of the highest paid managers in the league, and now he wants everyone to take a pay cut, didnt see him doing that on the 15million he has earnt over the last 5 years.

If thats how moyes feels he should give 4m of his own money so we can have a transfer budget.

what a stupid comment to make

    Fantastic sentiments,Moyes.

I wished all people could appreciate your visionary ideas.

I'm sure he would accept a 20% cut in his own salery,if it was across the board but nobody would do it retrospectively.

His other views on the game are facsinating & the top brass need to get the likes of him,sir alex & Wenger to forge a future vision for our game before the greedy mercenaries swallow it up.

Yes mate i couldn't agree more. The game will be ruined financially otherwise, well, more so than it is now anyway!

Trouble is even if Prem league took a 20% cut across the board..unless other leagues followed suit all the greedy b*stards would bugger off abroad to get the same pay!

American system across the board... get rid of promotion/relegation.... wage caps... and make championship like collegiate football... they get almost as many fans as the nfl...

Agreed love the idea drafting the young kids etc, wage caps for teams but i think were far to in to the structure of football now to redesgin everything.

Good to know we'll be saving £650,000 a year if/when Moyes signs his new contract!

this is the thing....unless its brought in across world football, it wouldn't work....all that would happen is prem league teams would offer 20% less wages, but then give players some sort of bonus payment to make up the difference....

Perhaps if they'd done it last year, they wouldn't have put the ticket prices up this time. And rather than a blanket pay reduction of 20%, why not cut it by 40% and offer bonuses for playing, drawing and winning?

At least we have the transfer ruling coming in. The fact they can only spend profit means that they'll probably end up trying to lower some wages.
