Hot topic.  Many different interpretations.  I could write down the legal definition of it; or google it and give the obligatory Wikipedia answer... What do you personally consider racism to be?

I believed it to be prejudice based upon a person's race.

That means there has to be negative judgement of a person based purely upon their race.

Race is more difficult to define but I think most of us get the gist.

I accept that you there might not need to be intention for something to be racist.

However, it appears that adjectives are now classed as racist.

As I type this I get that nervous feeling that in somehow I have committed an offence.

Surely we need to agree what terms are racist and codify them so that I don't fall into the trap of accidentally racially abusing someone without knowing it; when in fact I hate all... like all races equally... or is that racist because I am unfairly generalising all races as nice, when some people within each race might not be... and explain to me how Irish jokes havent been outlawed!?!

I bet not many are not one slightest bit offended by this.

    TBH...I dont understand it all...

    i'm married to a "brown" woman...she's not black...over the years i've been called a "n8888er lover...pa88i lover etc etc..."

most of my friends are white (pinkish) some of my friends are indian and pakistani..they call me names..i call them names...none of us take insult....yet once in a pub i was called a racist for calling me mate a charwaller...after he had called me a honky !! i got abused he got nothing...the accusation came form someone i would call a PC anorak type...(white by the way...) these people do my head in...my mates even had a go at her as did she who must be obeyed !!

i would never knowingly call someone a derogatory or offensive name...not because i'm "scared" to ..just that i wouldn't !! yet i get labelled the usual names being a scouser and have done since leaving lpool....should i take offence every time at everyone ? FFS...lifes too short...and mot times it's said in jest...

racism ...WTF is it all about...???? i haven't aclue ...

When I was younger I was called "milk bottle" by a black guy. That wasn't racist. To be honest I didn't even find it offensive.  I was pale and pasty and it was probably accurate description.

Living in Birmingham, I have been called "Gora" or "Guara" on several occassions by Asian guys.  Its an expression for a pale or white skinned person.  That wasn't racist.  I did find it offensive because it was said with a hateful sneer.  It was also offensive because they thought I might not understand what the word meant. Still not racist. I wasn't about to call the police to report them like...

They are cheekyBastards though some can give it but when its given back they get out their race cards in hope of getting a few grand claim out of it for apparently distressing them the dirty smellyCunts they are the ones who should be sent packing back to the sand first.

Before anyone gets their cards out I'm not tarring all just the minority I describe in ones post ok ?
