    Peter Cook used to bet against his team (spurs) for every match. If they won he didn't care about the money, if they lost then he had some cash to drown his sorrows with.

    Given that he was an alcoholic anyway, and fairly wealthy, you'd argue it was a sensible hedged bet.

    Your mother in law can't be that bad if she made you a Sunday dinner like. She can be the worlds worst but its worth it if she is gonna make you a Sunday dinner every now and then.
