That watch was £78 on British Airways in flight duty free about six years ago, bought one because I realised that I had left my watch at home on a flight.

are we meant to be impressed?

Why on earth would anyone be impressed by someone buying a cheap airline watch ? was simply adding a factual remark.
Because nobody actually buys a replacement for something, simply because the other was left at home by mistake.

Not true, I left the wife at home one day so I hired an escort. Funnily enough, she cost £78 as well.

Err... Why wouldn't they ? If you are going away for a couple of days how do you manage without a watch ? If I forgot my razor I would buy a new one, if I forgot my electric toothbrush I would probably buy a normal toothbrush, if I forget my Rolex Oyster perpetual I buy a cheap airline watch .

Err..... I don't think so mate.

78 quid is quite a decent amount for the average joe, especially when its spent on something out of the blue to replace a kin watch you forgot to take with you.

Most or should i say the majority of people would be just pi$$ed they had forgotten their watch...... You however have to be different.

    " trying to impress "

Classy lids, me wife did buy me tha' watch like, I was with 'er like. Only a couple of 'undred quid like bu' means a lo' to me like...especially 'as she's still recoverin' from a serious illness like...

£78 five years ago duty free could well cost couple of hundred today , you might even have a better leather strap than the one that I bought but main thing is Mrs. Amin bought it and she is on the mend and you love the watch.

On a loser here aren't I ?, if people are impressed or even think that I am suggesting that they should be impressed by buy me buying a £78 watch what can I say ? Isn't that about what you would spend going to a match ? The I pad thing was purely in response to Barrymores comment.
