What has he done since leaving us that would warrant a starting place.

Drenthehas been unpredictable but will always cause problems with his pace.

    NOTHING.

But im not going to get drawn on a debate on Pienaar, as a lot of people see things in him i do not.

fancy footwork and holds the ball well,
But scores little and creates little in final third.

Does work well with Baines though

Let's face it we all knew he wouldn't get into the spurs team... apart from him.

In terms of what he gives to the team:

    07/08 - 2 goals 9 assists
    08/09 - 2 goals 8 assists
    09/10 - 6 goals 4 assists

From left mid and with the running he does to help out in defence... I think he's a good player.

Drenthe has 2 goals and 7 assists so far from the same position. And he has barley started a handful of games. i rest my case.

I thought he started well yesterday but for some reason kept coming inside and only using Baines as a dummy runner. Hopefully he will perform but dissappointed we are not seeing more of Drenthe because he offers something different and like Ronaldo then Nani then Velancia at United. They took time to learn when to run and when to pass. Drenthe has the ability just needs the confidence and game time. If we give it to him we might get him to stay. If we dont play him then someone else will benefit.

I didn't say I prefer Pienaar to Drenthe though... I like Drenthe and would like to see more of him, he also looks pretty handy cutting in from the right, so we could play the two of em.. when Landon goes...

D'yer reckon Moyes has had a difference of opinions with Drenthe? As he does appear reluctant to use him...

I must say, I was glad to see Pienaar go and disappointed to see him back. I think it is too easy for people to forget how he badly he did the last season he was here and instead remember his glory days of old...
We're stuck with him so best to make the best of it and encourage him on the pitch. He seems happy to be here so I'm happy for him. At least with us he gets to play.

Is it wrong I burst out laughing when he was tripped and fell face first into the ground?

It was suggested on another thread that Drenthe was being "saved" for the Chelsea match and Moyes did not want him to get a yellow card against Wigan, which would have resulted in a suspension, hence Pienaar got to start instead. How many yellows has Drenthe incurred so far?

    3 yellows i thought i was 5 yellows then a suspension

So Drenthe could have started against Wigan, been subbed off if he had been booked and still been able to embarrass John Terry next week? Maybe Moyes is ensuring he can play against both Chelsea and Liverpool, allowing for a yellow against Chelsea.
