He's had a lot of stick since he's been at the club, but just recently he has shown a huge maturity and sense of responsibility at the heart of the defence, and i think his market value will shoot up if he keeps playing like he is. He is calm and does his best to marshall the players around him, and i've been hugely impressed. Also i think pip has started to find his form again since moving back to rb, bit harsh on hibbo who has be solid there this season, but pip gives a better balance between attack and defence.

Heitinga is brilliant, in defence he reads the opposition better than anyone we have at the club IMO. I would start with heitinga and distin every week, just feel he is better than jags(probably not a popular choice).

I'd probably have him as captain, surely no chance of him being sold especially at the minute.

Wouldn't have him as captain but definitely in starting 11 but that would mean dropping Buzz or Jagss, which is a problem Distin's solid but Jags has too big an influence on the team when he plays. For now though we should forget this and concentrate on how well young Duffy is playing annd even Hibbo's performance at CB, (but mainly 'The Duffster').

Distan for me makes a few to many mistakes, luckily for him, his strength and speed often gets him out of jail, whereas jags is in my opinion ultra dependable. Having heights with Jags and instructing jags to lets heights play the ball out from the back i think we would keep the ball a bit more!

I think he has a composed manner about him and he does look to organise. At times he's looked shaky but generally when he's been in and out of the team and played in midfield. Given a run I could see him becoming first choice CB. He also looks a bit more cultured than Jags (row Z ball)...

    Spartak Moscow eyeing Everton defender

"Everton centre-back Johnny Heitinga is a target for Spartak Moscow, according to reports in Russia.

The Russian transfer window is still open, which means Spartak could swoop for the Dutchman, who has been at Goodison Park since the summer of 2009.

And Russian newspaper Sovietsky Sports claim that Spartak could start the bidding at £4.15m - although Everton are likely to want at least double that amount if they are to be tempted into selling one of their most consistent performers.

With the English transfer window closed David Moyes would struggle to find a replacement for Heitinga, but Spartak appear convinced they can get their man."

My thoughts exactly ogv, jags plays the pointless long ball to a lone striker too often.

but quite often this season our defenders have very few out balls, and were always under the cosh , he probably wants a rest and just gets rid, if we play with confidence and well , we have the likes of piennar, donavon and felli who will want the ball more. our defenders have been getting the ball and have had very little option but to launch it.

Ive always liked Heitinga as a player, hes played out of position alot and gets alot of stick on here. As we have seen he plays well at his preffered position at CB. We have just got a decent squad together so I dont think we would let one of our better players go.

To be fair, Jags hasnt had anyone to drop or come and receive the ball short since mikky's left. Even heights plays the odd hoof but in general i do agree his passing is better on most occasions.

Fair point cjohn, but I would rather he stand still with it than just give it to the opposition which has been the case far to often IMO.
