Starting Line up for the weekend

They all played well and we seem to have a formation that is now more balanced and able to get forward. Maybe through injuries but if you compare the line up against City earlier in the season we had more players who can pass a ball in the midfield as well as try to get up the park.

I would happy if we stuck to the same lineup with Duffy back at CB. I would consider dropping Cahill who was excellent but for this game would like to see more support for Denis. I think Drenthe behind Denis and Peanuts on the wing could be interesting. THen we would have pace and power. Also Drenthe would be receiving the ball further up the pitch and closer to goal.

But as said can't fault the team last night and hope we get to see a lot more of Denis (not only this season) as he showed he had everything and seems to be settling into the PL pace.

have to play jelavic whats the point of paying all that money and then not playing.

moyes can forget about nurturing him into the side like rodwell or barkley.  stick him upfront and lets see what he can do..

you can usually tell after 3 or 4 games what sort of player he will be.

Cant put too much pressure or expectation on Jevalic as he will be playing up front on his own alot considering whats happend with previous strikers at this club.

    why.

none of our other strikers can get the ball in the back of the net on a consistent basis.

the midfield wont step up and score every game, and the season is more or less a write off already (apart from the fa cup)

we have nothing to lose he is 26, has played in europe and at international level, he should be ready.

    Agree
Got to play if we wanted to sign him ,ok he might not be up to pace but it isn't all a goalscorer needs it is the positions he gets in
    Agree about peanuts and Drenthe

never change an unbeaten side.  the same 11 who beat city must start together on saturday.  why drop hibbert for duffy ?  hibbert was brilliant so why drop him ?  the straq must start too - how can you drop someone who is playing so well.  jelavic will just have to accept a place on the bench and maybe he can come on 2nd half and nick a goal

Although I thought Cahill had one of his better games against SH8tty I would like to see 2 up top against wigan so only change would be Jel for Cahill for me personally.

Is this thread about what we want to see, or what we think Moyes will do.

I'm pretty confident Moyes will do the following (I'm not sure whether he'll start Starq or Jelavic but I think the other 10 are a safe bet - unless perhaps Distin is fit again - I thought Moyes said last week that he was getting pretty close)

    ...............Howard
    Hibbert....Duffy....Heitiinga.....Baines
    Donovan....Gibson.....Felli....Pienaar
    .............Cahill
    ....................Straq

Beano ; that set up looks pretty good.

jelavic will probably not be ready yet, but he may come on as a sub late in the 2nd half.

Do yer think he will stick Peanuts straight back in the lineup? I thought he might go with Drenthe or (if fit) Anichebe. I'm not saying I want him to do that. I'd be made up if he did start Peanuts.

I do. Right midfield was a position we were short in so Moyes had no issues throwing Donovan straight in even though he hadn't played a game for 2 months. I think he'll throw Pienaar straight into the team in the same way....especially as Moyes is clearly as frustrated with Drenthe as many one here are (including me)

I would like the lineup to be:

    --------------Howard----------------------
    Hibbert, Duffy, Heitinga, Baines
    Donovan, Felli, Gibson, Drenthe
    ------------Straq, Jelavic----------------

    But I guess it'll be:

    -----------------Howard-------------------
    Neville,Hibbert,Heitinga,Baines
    Donovan,Felli,Gibson,Pienaar
    -------------------Cahill--------------------
    --------------------Straq--------------------

I think Moyes will opt for the second team you picked and he'll bring Jelavic on after 60 minutes or so.

    -------------Howard------------
    Hibbert, Duffy, Heitinga, Baines
    Donovan, Fellaini, Gibson, Drenthe
    --------Cahill, Straqualursi----------

Bring Pienaar and Jelavic on at 60ish, for the two worst-performing players, whatever their positions. Maybe give Barkley a go. I hope.

I don't think Pienaar will start, probably get a sun in the second half, remember he hasn't played for a while. He rather play Drenthe. I also think Duffy will get back as a center half. It is a good game for him to get more experience from. Guess Hibbert get out on the side and replace Neville.

Jelavic is a certainty to start for 2 reasons:

    1. Straq needs a rest
    2. the sooner Jelavic gets his first goal the better, and playing the team bottom of the table is too good an opportunity to pass up!

                   Howard
    Neville Hibbert Jonny Baines
             Gibson Fellaini
    Donovan   Cahill    Pienaar
                  Jelavic

Trust me this is the team!
