im not saying we dont need a striker obviously we do, but to spend all of the money we have on someone unproven at the highest level, is to big a gamble to take.

if he flops wheres the money going to come from then for new signings, bily was our spare player we could afford to get rid of and not replace as we have enough cover in midfield.

this is a massive gamble, spending all of the money we have on 1 player.  you have to remember the other team interested were west ham, none of the prem teams were interested in taking the gamble for someone who has never been proven at any at premier league level.

    its a massive risk.

    -----------------

    Even less caps than Jalovic?

    Not so much!!

Who do you suggest we get instead then mate for the money??

    -----------------

rather get 2 strikers for 3m from europe each rather then spend 6-7 on someone like jelavic.

his goal record for croatia is poor

he had 1 good season in vienna but they play in temperatures of -10 out there, and a lot of his goals for rangers were penalties, it all sounds like a bit of a panic buy, times runnning out so moyes has put all of his eggs in 1 basket and hope it works out

he is basically spending all of our transfer budget in 1 go.  he has had the last 6 months to send out scouts all over europe to try and find a striker or 2.  he is basically using all of the arteta and bily money on jelavic and gibson.

And nobody woulbe be more pleased than you if it doesn't come off!

By the way, he's only had 5 starts for Croatia! I pprefer to see the positives that he actually gets into a decent team/squad like Croatia's!

    -----------------

decent team, kalinic gets into that team, yep that guy who flopped at blackburn,

    Even less caps than Jalovic?

    Not so much!!

Also, why ignore Corluka, Pranjic, Srna, Leko, Modric, Rakitic, Olic and Eduardo?

    Yes....decent team....Very much so!

They SPENT and that should be enough to grant optimism.  If he flops he flops.  At lest we did SOMETHING on the attracking end.

Hi guys, Rangers fan here so just thought I'd give you a bit of info on what kind of player you're getting in Jelavic.

If the prices quoted are correct (5.5-6m) I believe you have got him for a very good price.
Firmly believe that he will prove to be money well spent for Everton.

He's technically very good and can score all kinds of goals; free-kicks, tap ins, headers, over-head kicks (Scored 2 whilst at Rangers).

Aside from his goal scoring though he also links play well and is very good at creating space for other players. His movement and unselfishness will create a fair share of goals for who-ever plays upfront alongside him.

His touch can be a bit off at times and he's not the quickest but the positives far out-weigh the negatives he has in his play.

The Scottish league isn't great to say the least so I understand why some fans might have some concerns about signing a player from Scotland, but in my opinion Jelavic is quality enough to play and more than hold his own in the Premier League.

Very sad to see him leave Rangers but I wish him all the best with Everton. Good luck for the rest of the season.

Nice post that mate, thanks for taking the time to do it! Hopefully your loss will be our gain (and i mean that in the nicest way!).....hopefully Rangers can pick up  a fourth Scottish title on the bounce! :)

No problem. Unfortunately Rangers are just a stepping stone now for the better players. I was surprised when we managed to get Jelavic last summer as I thought he would of already been destined for the Premier League.

He scored some very important goals for us and hopefully he will do so at Everton too.
