I believe its all hinging on the Anichebe, Tevez swap deal, and we wont know the answer to that until after the game tomorrow. Apparently if Anichebe gets a hatrick then its on.................

    guardian...

"Everton expect to complete the signing of Nikica Jelavic on Tuesday after having an improved offer of around £6m for the Croatia international striker accepted by Rangers.

Craig Whyte, the Rangers chairman, rejected a £5m bid from the Goodison Park club on Monday but talks have continued with his Everton counterpart, Bill Kenwright, and, despite not matching the £7m offer lodged by West Ham United last week, Everton look set to complete a deal before the transfer deadline.

David Moyes' prospects of finally landing the goalscorer his side desperately needs have been helped by Jelavic's desire to move to Merseyside. Everton's offer of £5m plus a player was also rejected by Whyte but, given Rangers' financial situation and the 26-year-old's determination to move to the Premier League, a compromise deal appears to have been reached.

The Everton manager, who remains keen on signing the Paris St-German striker Guillaume Hoarau, said on Monday: "I am still hoping to bring a couple in but I couldn't say whether I was confident or not. I cannot say for sure if we will definitely get something done."

    True.......

Seriously though, nice to see us involved in some sort of transfer activity. The squad needed freshening up and some competition for places is no bad thing.

this is a massive gamble, spending all of the money we have on 1 player.  you have to remember the other team interested were west ham, none of the prem teams were interested in taking the gamble for someone who has never been proven at any at premier league level.

    its a massive risk.

yeah its much needed.......can't say i've seen much of Jelavic to be honest, but signing a player from the scottish league is more of a gamble these days.....but its probably one of the most important signings Moyes will make at Everton, almost feels like a Boom or bust signing......

the last striker we signed from Rangers wasn't bad was he........lets hope Jelavic can have the same impact......

Neither was Tin Cahill, or Arteta for that matter. He's had a decent scoring record at Quite quick Vienna, and at Rangers. I know YouTube doesn't count for much, but he does seem to have a poachers instinct, something we have been lacking severely.

rather get 2 strikers for 3m from europe each rather then spend 6-7 on someone like jelavic.

his goal record for croatia is poor

he had 1 good season in vienna but they play in temperatures of -10 out there, and a lot of his goals for rangers were penalties, it all sounds like a bit of a panic buy, times runnning out so moyes has put all of his eggs in 1 basket and hope it works out

he is basically spending all of our transfer budget in 1 go.  he has had the last 6 months to send out scouts all over europe to try and find a striker or 2.  he is basically using all of the arteta and bily money on jelavic and gibson.

I'm neither for or against Jelavic tbh mate. However, im not sure we need 2 strikers from Europe for 3 million each, who would both be a gamble (and who have no names or faces which makes it even harder). I hope it works out with Jelavic. And if it doesnt, its the managers decision at the end of the day.

We just gotta get behind the team and see how it works out. Gibson could be an astute buy on Moyes' part, he is already worth 5million. And if we sign Manolas for 500k, the way Moyes develops defenders he COULD be worth 5million+ in a couple of years time, and lets not forget, AEK wanted 3million for him but his contract is running out. I think in terms of money, Moyes seems to have done a bit of decent business in a difficult window to buy players, we have got the players we want for the money we wanted to pay and that can only be a good thing surely??

Time to really get behind the team now! COYB!

And nobody woulbe be more pleased than you if it doesn't come off!

By the way, he's only had 5 starts for Croatia! I pprefer to see the positives that he actually gets into a decent team/squad like Croatia's!

VIDEO: THE GOALS THAT HAVE MADE EVERTON MAD FOR NIKICA JELAVIC

"It's transfer deadline day and Everton have reportedly agreed a fee with Glasgow Rangers for star man Nikica Jelavic. Here's why David Moyes went all out for the towering striker, beating West Ham to the Croatia international's signature."
