Drenthe: Looking at the stats...

I was looking at the "Head To Head" app on our official site and I compared Drenthe to David Silva: Silva has 20 starts to Royston 's 8 and despite the lack of games he has 8 assists to Silva's 16, and 2 goals to 6. Even though Silva has had 46 more shots and his accuracy is 20% better. R Ricky has a better conversion rate. Take into account the fact that Silva is surrounded by quality players and plays for a more attack minded side it is impressive. I'm in no way saying he's better than the City playmaker but surely he should have an automatic place on the team sheet???

Theres nothing wrong with a positive player though, it's not too bad that he always wants to be on the attack is it??

I like drenthe but comparing him to david silva arguebly one of the worlds best players is like comparing richard wright to joe hart

im not saying he's anywhere near as good im just saying that considering how well he's fairing statistically he should surely be a 1st team choice

thats the problem, he has assists AND goals, Moyes doesnt want that happening now does he, no wonder he's been on the bench lately.

Drenthe is a great player in my oppinion and should start, he's explosive! Only part of his game that lets him down is he doesnt track back when the team or he loses the ball

good post cuza. its nice to see some facts. i dont know why drenthe isnt a regular starter, he's the  only player we have who seems confident enough to take on opponents. i'd like to see him and strac start in matches.

Agreed we need to give Drenthe and Denis more starts because I think they both suit the way we play. Denis can hold the ball up and RR can make something out of nothing. The reason I think they are not getting the game time is that when they play you can see that they are desperate to make an impression that they try too hard. By giving them more game time and confidence they could both prove good assets and hopefully long term contract at the end of the season.

We qont have the money to buy anything better so play them more and make them feel important at the club so that we can get them to stay. There is no point on having Saha every week because he is not longterm for us.

    Hello lads,
This is my first time here on this forum, i'm from holland and i try to follow Everton most of the time because their 1 of my 2 favourite clubs, i've been here against liverpool with a few mates maybe you've seen us with our self made flag.

My question is, why isnt Royston playing most of the times? is it because he's injured or is he just a bench player? I know him from the past, he used to play at Feyenoord (my favourite club here in holland) he was a great player and was doing some good things on the youngsters EC. I hope they will try to sign him because when he's in shape he can be very important for us.

He should play regularly but has had a couple of niggly injuries.

He's also a very 'greedy' player who needs to be more team aware.

Mouriniho got fed up of him 'cos of this imo & until he becomes a more team player, will always be on the fringes.

He's a great, explosive talent but when it doesn't come off,you lose posession & in the Prem' you get burnt.

Drenthe has a load of raw talent, but he's sparatic.  If ne develops dicipline he will be a nightmare for other teams.  Some times I get the feeling DM sits him to manage his energy and keep him focused.
