The year 2012 could yet prove a defining one for both Bill Kenwright, David Moyes and Everton

    good article about Evertons future...

"The year 2012 could yet prove a defining one for both Bill Kenwright, David Moyes and Everton.

This summer, however, the job of England manager becomes vacant after Fabio Capello’s decision to leave following Euro 2012.

Although a Scotsman, Moyes could be a leader contender. With the idea of an English or British-born successor gathering momentum, two of the favourites will be aged 65 by September next year. Although Roy Hodgson (West Brom) and Harry Redknapp (Tottenham Hotspur) both have vast footballing experience, their long term viability for the role must be questioned; Redknapp’s recent heart scare does not bode well for his health prospects in such a demanding job.

Kenwright will continue his search for new owners and a freshly built stadium, yet the lack of progress with the latter is claimed to be a significant factor in failing to attract a rich benefactor. The Goodison chairman has been eager to stress that Manchester City’s newish Eastlands stadium prompted their Middle Eastern owners to buy the Mancunian club rather than Everton. Should Kenwright’s hopes fail to materialise in the coming months he faces the further potential headache of seeking a new manager. The consequences of this could be far reaching."

I reckon we have no choice now but to redevelop goodison. it wouldnt be easy, but it would be cheaper than a new stadium and it may be enough to attract a buyer.

"yes, losing out on the stadium was a big step back"

yeah, we'll never get another shot like that one. it was, as wyness said, 'the deal of the century'.

screwed by the gov't again. the last time when thatcher banned english teams from europe. at the time we were the best in europe and we would have built a great financial foundation for the club.

hmm, hadn't even considered Moyes for England.

But I doubt a Scotsman would want to manage England or vice-versa. Hope Woy doesn't get it though.

Do you think that any Englishman other than an Evertonian would understand why the F.A. would appoint an England manager who had never actually won anything, had no previous international management experience, had no European experience to speak of
and would probably play a lone striker against Andora at Wembley ?

I liked Maggie Escla, however, she was putting pressure on the FA to make sure we were banned from Europe.

wiki "On 31 May, British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher put pressure upon the FA to withdraw English clubs from European competition,[16]and two days later UEFA banned English clubs for "an indeterminate period of time"."

thatcher supported and encouraged eufa to ban clubs.

" why the F.A. would appoint an England manager who had never actually won anything,"

why not? they appointed don revie because he had won everything, and he was useless. so success in the league isnt always a guarantee of success anywhere else.

plus very few managers have won anything. most have not. but they are just as capable. do you think jose mourinho would win the league with bolton?
