So far, I like what I've seen.  He's had some nice runs.  I just wished he would pull the trigger more.

Ross Barkley has massively impressed me throughout the pre-season and today for a 17-year old making his premiership debut, he was exceptional.

Against Philadelphia, he would beat a man and then give the ball way... since then he has learned from those errors and today, he looked the only player in blue with any real vision about his game.

Keep up the good work Ross, your efforts today were warmly received and applauded -a tremendous debut, spoilt by the result and sub-par performances of some of your older and more experienced colleagues.

strangely enough my mate said he reminds me of rooney.. tend to agree, its the 1st time ive seen him today and was very impressed, will be good to watch him again at blackburn as i think he has done more than enough to get another starting place.. best bit for me was him battling for the ball in front of the lower gwladys st corner area... put the others to shame

Barkley did great. Played with passion and did really well. Clearly a bright future ahead of him.

Barkley started to become an inconvenience (sorry I know it's harsh) because he was too desperate to score/ impress. He started so well but became too selfish.

He was solid and sprinted 30 yards to stop adel taarabt on the counter. He was fantastic today and don't act like arrogant/ patronising you come across as a manure fan  :p
