Maurice Huggett, Director of the Phoenix Artist Club. The private members bar under Bill Kenwrights Phoenix Theatre.

I've only just heard but thought it was worth a thread in here as I know a few people on here have been in there.

As someone who Maurice both banned and gave an honorary life membership too, I can honestly say he'll be missed by a truely frightening number of people.

Cracking last line...'Maurice Huggett never married'

Maurice’s final arrangements - Funeral & Thanksgiving Service

    Dear All

The final arrangements for Maurice are listed at www.phoenixartistclub.com or appropriate face book pages and have been emailed to as many friends as possible.

(We would appeal to you all not to respond individually for any further information as we are already struggling to cope.)

Maurice will rest overnight 12th January at the Phoenix. The
club will be closed but those wishing to sign the condolences book or
spend a moment of reflection are welcome to pop in between 6pm and
    11.30pm. No photography please.

Golders Green Crematorium has very limited parking facilities.
Public transport and location details are included in this message.

We have accepted the kind offer of a few close friends to act
as “waistcoat” stewards on the day; they will act as guides and hand out
    the Order of Service.

Please arrive by 11.45 am, bearing in mind that we will be in
the largest of the three rooms and of course, a number of other services
will be taking place alongside Maurice’s. Some seats have been reserved
for those arriving in the cortege.

Everyone must be seated before the arrival of the cortege, no
later than 12 noon. If the room is full, arrangements have been made to
watch on screens outside in the waiting area.

The service follows the wishes of Maurice and will have singers
and music. Maurice instructed that everyone should applaud as
    appropriate.

We are equally sure that Maurice would be amused to make his
final entrance and exit to a standing ovation, he wanted the day to be
one of joy and colourful celebration.

After the service we can accommodate 140 people in two
routemaster buses, located near to the Crematorium. If there are more
people than they can hold can we please appeal to you all to give
priority to those unfamiliar with London or perhaps are more in need of
    assistance.

The buses will depart for The Phoenix Artist Club, where light
snacks and a complimentary glass of wine will be available. Again, we
are limited to 150 maximum, please don’t be offended if we can’t
    accommodate you all.

Our friends at Molly Moggs, just across the road, will do their best to look after you if we are full.

The club will close from 4pm to allow the staff some respite before opening as normal at 5pm, again as per Maurice’s wishes.

    Friday 13th January 2012

    12 noon to 1pm

Dress code should be bright and cheery – no black.

    Thank you to -

Ken Wright, Colin Savage, Ross Lillis, Chris Choi, Richard
Quest, Jo Corrigan, David Gilmore & all of Maurice’s family. (And
others too numerous to mention, you know who you all are).
