THe Bolton Game

There is a lot of negativity on here. I understand everyone's frustration at the loss yesterday and a lot can be said for the way we squandered our lead. I will not dispute any of that.
But, I must say that if you look at the game from the perspective of what we got right, it doesn't look all that bleak.
I saw great improvement in our passes, they looked much more creative than they have been over the past few months. I was excited to see Donovan come back and I don't think he disappointed in his first appearance. The Strac-man was really trying to get a goal, I think it is only a matter of time before he does. We finally began to look like we were playing as a "team".

So many times in the past in seemed as if everyone was running around disjointed and not really working together. Yesterday seemed different. As much as I like Saha I think it is time for him to sit on the bench, he made a mess of things every time he got hold of the ball. I also believe it was the injuries that was our downfall. Losing Jags, Osmen and Rodwell really weakened our defenses...

No matter how the game turned out what I will remember the most is Howard's goal. It was an exciting game and I will always remember it...Maybe I see things from rose colored glasses but I love my team...win or lose.

its great that you can stay positive......i wish i could too...but i saw so many things wrong last night.....

Yes its great to have donovon back, it gives us another dimension......but we were playing the worst team in the Prem league last night, at home, and if it wasn't for some good saves & a freak goal from howard, we could have lost 4 or 5 - Nil.

We gave possession away, we looked disorganised, and we created very little.......any team with Phil Neviile in centre midfield is gonna struggle....

Yes we had 3 injuries to key players......but that only affected what Moyes could do in the last 20-25 mins....at which point we should have been in command of the game. For me, our performance have been worryingly poor for most of this season now....we're going quickly in the wrong direction unless something is done fast....

Thanks for the little ray of blue-eyed sunshine. I'm trying to keep positive with no mates to commiserate with over here, but if I take the majority of comments on this forum to heart I may as well say screw it, we stink, Moyes out, Kenwright out, Saha out, etc etc etc. Either the money wll come or it won't. Either the boys will start playing together or not. Either someone will find their scoring boots or not. No matter what, I'll continue to watch, hope, and support EFC.

For months we have been attacking down the wings with no attack through the middle, and having Neville and Heitinga in the center of midfield does not help. All we do is send Baines down the wing, and he crosses it for Saha or Cahill, and we get nothing. We got a freak goal last night, a goal on a scramble in the box vs. WBA, and a gift penalty vs. Sunderland. Bolton closed down our wings and we had nothing through the middle.
Clearly we miss Arteta, Pienaar, etc., but we can't live in the past. Who can help us attack through midfield? This is the bulk of our problem, in my opinion.

Good thread, as bad as we were there was that goal and I will probably remember that more fondly( never seen it happen live before) than some of our more illustrious victories. Well in b-e-g for the rose tinted specs, find the positives and keep the faith coyb.

. i was very upset how the game was lastnight . but we all no why. theres no cash getting put into the team. we need a striker someone who will get off his backside and have a go i might be negative but it has to be said last night was a shambles.
yes tims goal was great will think about that for years to come well done tim .landon didint have a bad game too but hes only with us for around 8 weeks he must of been shocked when he saw how bad we had played. what a diference the team as changed from the last time he was at goodison. i just hope the everton board can understand how many of the fans are frustrated at what is happening to our great club.we need players now. you have sold players so spend that cash
