the problem is the young players arent gooe enough to come through.
people said to start vellios, moyes started him twice and he did nothing.
people said to start straq so he started straq and again offered very little he gets himself about but thats it.
anichebe has been injured, but we all know how bad he can be.
cahill hasnt scored a goal for 13 months now, and now that is goals have dried up we see exactly what he brings to the team
mcfadden no idea why he was bought
saha is way off form but the only real striker we have who is good enough to start but has scored as many as tim howard.
but saying that its moyes fault as he was the one who sold beckford and yak and never replaced them, shane long would of been decent but the one we missed out on was demba ba. even with his high wages we could of sold him in 3 years time for 10m+ and recouped all of the wages,

A young player returns after injury, and scores the winner away from home.
Next game, where is he? On the bench, while DM persists with listless, out of form strikers, who continue to earn their inflated salaries loping about aimlessly hoping for a "bit of luck".
They are under no pressure since they know they'll be in the starting line up. It's taken half a season to drop the fading Cahill.
Don't you think that giving VA a start would also have given him a lift, and lit a fire under the rest?
It's called the ability to motivate, both positively and negatively.
Unfortunately, as much as I admire his pragmatic, down to earth character, DM doesn't seem to have this crucial ability. Notice how he never sings a player's praises. The most I have ever heard from him is along the lines of "XXX did a couple of good things for us..." or "I saw some positives, but a few things to work on as well..."
No wonder the older hands are complacent.
What could we lose by starting Drenthe, Stracqualursi, Gueye, Barkley ....?
