Another season dawns............................

With the visit of QPR tomorrow i would like to share with y'all one of my worst 'awayday' stories of my whole Everton supporting life.

I would like to take you back to Saturday the 16th of April 1994, i was 14 years old and me an my mate had touched for a lift down to Loftus Road with my cousin and his mate in his mates Astra GTE (it was rapid!!!)
Just to put you in the picture there were 3 more games left after QPR, Coventry and Wimbledon at home and an away fixture with Leeds inbetween, oh and by the way at this time we were deeply in the sshit.
Anyway we had won our last game against West Ham, our first win in seven with one draw and five defeats, but the West Ham victory had got us to the 'magical' 40 point mark, however we needed to kick on and win at QPR, because of the way the table was we were not safe atall.

Anyway, the tension in the ground before kick-off was there for everyone to see, nails were being bit, smokes being smoked, it was a strange atmosphere, everyone was singing, willing the lads on, but you could sense the nervous energy. After a first half of gritty play, we went in 0-0.
Into the 2nd half and we started well although we were lucky not to concede early on, then on 64 mins, Cottee notched to put us 1 up with a goal that nearly took the roof of there two-bob stadium. However 3 mins later QPR equalised, but although gutted i remember thinking atleast we look like we are gonna take a point, which at the time, away points were like rockin' horse droppings. Then on 87mins, Les Ferdinand struck home, 2-1 to QPR, well the emotions as i left the ground that day were indescribable.
The car journey home from London that day was like no other journey i'd ever experienced or have since. Four lads in a car from London to Liverpool not a single word spoken in 3 hours, we all thought the same thing..........Everton were going down!!!

Now we all know how it ended happily, but at that time, they were the darkest days i've ever known. So tomorrow when we take on QPR, lets put all the Kenright sshite to one side and get behind the team, think positive, because it could be alot worse.

As another season dawns i wish you all good health, wealth and happiness for the forthcoming season.

    Must Must win tomorrow.

We need Arteta to return to form and Ossie and Baines to carry on from where they left off.

    Nicely written Fizz.
I can't wait for the season to begin. We have a fresh clean slate. Nothing that happened last season or didn't happen in the transfer window matters anymore. It is down to how the players preform on the pitch and truth is...we have a great team! Tomorrow is the dawn of a new day and I have a feeling it's gonna be a great day!
