"The average age of the Blues team which lined up against Sunderland on Boxing day was 30, and Moyes says that finding quality young players to freshen-up his outfit from the lower leagues is harder than ever...

“There is a big price to pay. I mean, what would a Jagielka or a Baines cost now if we were going to Sheffield United or Wigan? “We couldn’t afford a player of that standard now.“It could well be the case (that I have to sell before I buy someone), but at the moment I am not getting told that,” he said.“The problem for us at the moment is that we do not have the funds to make the purchases, so I don’t have to make the decision at the other end (older players).“And by the way, I have not had anybody banging my door down offering to buy A, B or C.”"
who'd wanna run a football club?

Howard, Baines, Jags, Heittinga, Coleman, Fellaini, Rodwell, Barkley, Gueye, Vellios.. 10 players with years of playing time left.. Decent academy players coming through as well.

    howard is 32,

jags will be 30 in march,

hetinga wont be here for years and years as he said he wants to finish his career at ajax and often makes mistakes he isnt a long term solution

rodwel looks likley to be sold to get some funds in

barkley isnt even on the bench

gueye and vellios may/maynot make it too early to tell.

I cant see rodwell, barkley or fellaini staying here for much longer given that its looking like it will be 3 years without european football

12 months is a long time in football, last year neville was playing well and redknapp was loking to bring him in to add experience to his side, and cahill already had 9 goals for the season.  12 months on and now look at them,

But Rodwell, Barkley and Fellaini have all recently signed long term contracts. Maybe they don't take your advice.....

long term contracts means they just get paid more, doesent mean they cant be sold

saha distin to leave at the end of the season, neville and cahill not good enough amymore,  he is going to have to replace them.  and he is going to ahve to sell to buy to do that

Im surprised I haven seen finch farm being bought over yet, i thought you and your "rich evertonians" were coming up with the 15m.

Anyone and anything can be sold at anytime. Your RS get sold every other year. But three very good young Everton players have tied themselves to long contracts and I'll take that even if it upsets you.

Barkely, Rodwell, Gueye, Vellios etc. is exactly the ones that will keep us to Europe games, so nobody's leaving for europe games!

Why is all this comming out now. During the summer when we were selling players everyone kept saying we had a decent squad, with the youngsters being on board.
I asked everyone to check the squad list at the end of the last season game. Look at those who had been sold, those you thought would be sold, those you thought were not good enough, those who are injury prone and those who were getting on a bit, and you will find we had a poor squad. Its what all managers do at the end of a season, Mr Moyes needs to ask himself did he look closely enough, lack of funds or not.....

squad rebuilding is a regular event in any team. we've got a good mix of youth and experience but we have a few whose time it is to move on.

we have to sell to buy, like most clubs, but we do have enough talent to do that.

it will be interesting to see what happens in january and in the summer. chelski, manu and arsenal are going to have to spend, in the summer if not before.  moysey may be in a better position to do some business at the end of the season.
