    REALLY

Try the last post in this thread from Yak's last full season at Boro. Posted in February, with 3 months of the season remaining, it states yak has 11 PL goals

    http://search.catflaporama.com/post/browse/529925345

    He finished with 12!

"he never went off the boil at pompey or at middlesborough" ???

    REALLY???

    Boro supporters say different!

    -----------------

YES because I know for a fact that yak got 5 goals

    http://www.premierleague.com/en-gb/matchday/results.html?paramClubId=ALL&paramSeason=2006-2007&view=.dateSeason

and as I said it wasnt his last 8 months 3 of those months was the summer break

Beano said you leave out the bit about Yak scoring only one goal in his last 8 months at Boro

I see a goal on Feb 24th in their 2-1 win over Reading. That was his last goal of the season! This is entirely consistent with the post you've quoted (altho my memory did fail me. It was one goal in about 7 months - not 8 - less the 6 weeks for Summer)! Coz, the Summer break isn't 3 months. It's 6 weeks. Yak hadn't even scored from them in pre-season! Then suddenly, arrives at Everton and scores 10 minutes into his debut!

    THIS^^

I mean you expect it from toffeecup because everton dont do anything wrong when it comes to him but, the others.

Same thing happened with lescott when he first moved to city everyone was laughing at him being on the bench and how he will struggle to make an impact, now that he has become a regular in the team no one says anything

rooney scores his goals in patches so what???  the point was he scores goals not how or when he scores them

No the point is, he went off the boil. Not scoring in any competition or friendly for 7+ months (less 6 weeks break if you wanna be pedantic) and then scoring 10 minutes into your first game at your new club proves he went off the boil...and also proves the attituide issue which ToffeeCup pointed out - which is what you took issue with - so don't suddenly pretend the point is now something else!

7+months,  are you serious the season ended on 13th of may and restarted on 14 august is this really 6 weeks.  are you really going to count pre season as if this is meant to prove something.  darren bent scored 7 in pre season for spurs.

tim cahill scores in patches when he plays does this mean he went off the boil every season.  same with rooney he scores in patches does this mean he goes "off the boil".

it seems you are fixated on the 2006/2007 season what about the rest,  theres nothing you can really say about the yak he stats show you everything you need to know

and no what toffeecup said was

Yak's goals dry up before the end of the first season, he puts on weight and takes his cash. ---WRONG look at pompey and middelsborough

Yak tries to get back in shape and fails to score goals.---again WRONG came back from injury and banged them in when loaned out.

    PURE BS

as usual toffeecup trying to make everton smell like roses, as far as he is concerned kenright is like citys owners and moyes is like morinio.

just like he said mcfaddenn wasnt good enough for us, and then when he signed he said he could offer us something different in attack.  but then again you probably already know this.

IS that really the best you have Beano, all strikers go through patches where they dont score, the main thing is scoring goals for the teams you play for which he has done bar 2 seasons when he was injured and was coming back from his injury.

Well yes you play some **** poor teams in pre season who I would expect D Bent to score 7 against - As I would Yakubu - but he scored none!

Even if you wanna take out all of pre season, it's still no goals for 4 PL months!! Thats a bit more than a not scoring "patch" or "going off the boil"!

People say he did the same towards the end at pompey but I'd need to chek that out. Can't remember!

The argument that Yak only scores when he first moves clubs is a load of s**t. If you look at his goalscoring record you will see that he has always scored goals. At Portsmouth he scored 7 in his first season 19, in his second and 17 in his third season and at Middlesbrough he scored 19 in his first season and 16 in his second.

He got injured after his first season at EFC but he has scored goals everywhere he has been, and I have no doubt he would have scored more if he would have played more for us. He has reached double figures for Leicester, Everton, Middlesbrough, Portsmouth and he has already reached double figures for Blackburn. The goal he scored last night shows that he is a natural goal scorer, he always has been and he always will be.

    what an enigma that guy!

lost all respect for him, treated us like **** in the end, probs do the same to blackburn after a year

Don't agree mate. Yak was brilliant for us, got a serious injury and it took a long time to come right. When he came back, he struggled for a while but then showed genuine signs of getting back to where he was, performing very well against the $hite and stoke. what happens? moyes dropped him because he wasn't running around like a headless chicken and getting back defending. Yak stays up top and scores goals. He's got 11 already this year in a **** team who can't defend. Imagine what his 11 goals would have done for us so far this season with our defence playing reasonably well of late. moyes would rather pick a has been ( Saha), a never was ( McFadden) or a never will be ( Anichebe), or even a midfielder up front. Last night we played a 451, the same as last Sat. - both at home against newly promoted sides. I have always defended Moyes, this is the first time I have ever turned against him, but these tactics are a disgrace. Yak should be playing upfront for us with an eager Vellios or Straq to knock it down for him. Add that to the pace and delivery of Drenthe, Baines and Coleman, and I feel we would be in a far different place now - challenging for the European places. It's very frustrating!

I agree with most of your post scanners, but the line 'imagine what his 11 goals would have done for us' is academic; as you have already stated (and I agree with) is that even if he was still with us I doubt we would have created enough chances for him to score that many.

I was delighted when we signed Yakubu as he was a reliable scorer. I have to say that I hold DM's negative team set ups as part of the reason for his decline with us.

I can understand going 451 at old trafford or the etihad, but at home to lesser teams in their 1st year in the premiership is unforgiveable. yak didn't get the benefit of games to come good last season in the same way as saha or timmy this year. if he was given an extended run last season with a partner, then I honestly feel we would be reaping the rewards of it this year.

Thats the worst thing you have ever said in the blueroom.....

This isnt about Blackburn its about us letting him go!  Losing £10m on him.....

£1.5m for a striker who scores 11 prem goals befoe xmas isnt bad going...........

THe question i have to ask myself mate is would he have scored 11 for us?? and the answer for me would be no, because we struggle to create, if there isnt anything created there is no chances for a striker........if we spend 10million (for example) on a striker in jan will it solve our problems?? i dont think it will cos we only have drenthe really trying to create, we NEED soem creatvie midfield spark AND  striker imo....or it will be same old same old come February....

He starts well and scores lots of goals and he continues to score goals, the only reason he never scored as many with us was because he got injured and he was often out of favour. Just look at his goal scoring record, it will prove you are wrong as he has always been a goalscorer, and next season he will without doubt score a lot of goals, and the season after, and the season after.
