How does one game ( a tonking at that ) give the players better shape ?
p0peye said:The week we have had... it's exactly the same week as the manager and players have been used to all summer... absolutely nothing has changed except the perception of some of the fan base.
We have a good squad, earning good money and we have - in my opinion - a very favourable openng five fixtures, four at home, one a close road trip and not a Top Four or Top Six opposition in sight.
For heavens sake, unless DM and the players make an absolute town halls of this fortuitous situation, we could make our best start for years... and that will engender everyone with some confidence going into the next run of games.
How can a 4 nil home thrashing be classed as competitive ?tickets11 said:

easy there players have a competitive game under their belt and we dont.
a lot of teams struggle in their first game as the players are still getting up to speed. Chelsea, RS, even united were lucky to get a late winner,

We are talking about seasoned pro's here tickets and a week and one game won't make a bit of difference.
Just like your views on playing better opposition in pre-season would make a difference. The shambles against Werder Bremen didn't do us any favours against Villareal either did it ?

ahahaha thats what I was telling everyone,
People were saying look at the rs they are conceding 3 every game, I said its only until you play the last 2 games against harder opposition is the true test to see where the team is and look what happened. we lost the last 2.
and it doesent matter they lost 4-0, the point is they got 90mins under their belt in a competitive game.
the best time to play the bigger teams is at the start of the season, united especially have been know to get off to a slow start every season

By the way, I'm non-committal on the subject of BK, so don't label me one way or the other... my thread was intended to discuss the possibility of a securing a really good start to the season.

I argued with you about pre-season opposition months ago. You were all for playing better teams as it would up the standard. How the players would up their game and it would create sharpness infront of goal.
I aruged that it didn't make the slighest bit of difference at all.
So, now that we have played a couple of decent teams in our preparation, how can the QPR players be in better shape after the thumping they had ? Just going on your arguements months ago...... Shouldn't we be more than ready now then ?
