No point in that, we can't afford to rest him even if it would be just for a couple of games.

We could do with dropping Baines. It would finally make the other players up their game because all our attacks go through Bainesy.

What I'm say is the other players aren't doing enough. Baines has to create every single attack. He is to us what Gerrard was for the RS a few years ago.

It amazes me how the English can pump up a guys credentials. Not so long ago Cahill from Bolton was the next big thing, yet Bolton are willing to let his contract run until he rediscovers his form. The media in England love to hype and hate, seldom do they differentiate between the player. Baines is top quality no doubt, is he our best player? again no doubt. Does he create most of our attacking moves, through spot kicks corners and set pieces,? yes sadly. Could Everton survive without him? No question.
Players discover form at different stages, no question Baines has discovered his, it took a while and a lot of sub apperances before it happened, but if Rodwell is worth 30m then surely Baines must be worth the same in the inflated world that is the Premiership.
Rest him because of a fear of suspension, NEVER.

Agreed the logic of resting him for a couple of games to avoid a one match suspension would only be one Everton would adopt if he was a striker

I'm talking about when he gets suspended. Plus leaving him out against Norwich and Swansea wouldn't be too much of a risk! Keep him for the big games
