When you log on your automatically go into a room containing "General Chat" and "Everton Talk". When you start a discussion you have to select a category.

Are you happy with this, or would you prefer the old way of going into General Chat or Everton Talk?

I would say the old layout was better to be honest. Although as already mentioned, some people wanted to merge EFC Talk and General Talk into one. I never liked the new layout either when I first seen it, but I have got used to it more now.

I think the idea of merging the rooms was because of a decline in users; and certainly when I voted against it was told it might be something that was a short term thing during the off season - yer know, less to talk about re Everton so why not get the lads together in one room... I can understand but to me, the two rooms were better separate.

KM made a very valid point that the two rooms were like different pubs. Now you've got everyone in together slaggin eachother off.  In the past they would have stuck to their own rooms and Tone would only go trollin on occasion.. lol

I said it it aint broke dont fix it. They said:

That is certainly not our experience. Based on the team of moderators, who were invited to provide a wishlist and opinions when we began work on the new site, the old forum was very restricted and needed a great deal of work to provide the kind of functionality available elsewhere. It was felt it was long in the tooth and a new solution was needed. The old forum was also very difficult to implement a sign-on with and whilst, on the face of it, the launch of this new forum did not exactly do much in the way of improving this, it is actually a much easier approach than the previous forum, which will help us further down the line when we introduce SingleSignOn across all our web platforms.  The old forum was also a commercial product, and this restricted the work we could do with the forum.  This new forum has been adopted to allow us to use elements that a community of developers have worked on, and it will also allow us to add / move features.  (i.e. allowing us to move the search, move the poll).

Erm....the original forum was one forum.....which was, in terms of numbers....when this place was popular......the webteam did a revamp with ripple effect and reamerged as two forums, which was pretty poor and went to **** with poor moderate and mismanagement by the webteam....

The old forum.....was one forum....and lets not muck about, this place gets few enough posts as it is without wanting to divide that number by 2, 3 or 8.

The old layout was a single "Blue Room".....

To be fair though.....being able to click on how you want to view one forum by making if subject driven is quite funny..........as currently its not a split or a single forum....you can elect to view it as either........ripple effect = pedant

I'm not going to vote OGV.......largely on account on most people on here misunderstanding that the old forum contained two forums. Well, that and I'm not going through this **** again.

The suggestion was made,as you say OGV, as a short term measure for the summer months. However I still think that the present layout should stay the same. When you change the layout you will have teething problems and that will result in frustration and a drop in numbers. The option is there which section you want to post in its just people are not using it.
    Keep it as is.

The forum will change design and layout when ripple effect need to justify their new contract....the number of changes will depend on the type of grief this place is giving the webteam.....but at no point will any of the changes reflect with any degree of accuracy those put forward by forum members at any point.

aaaaaand.......thats my last post on the subject.
