What you using now? have to say 4 mins, is not too long, and think if you could have at least doubled it, could have been a bit more dramatic, but it is a bit of hit or miss long exposures. Took a nice shot(New York skyline about 5yrs ago), hand held on a window sill, looking out of the Millenium Hotel in New York. Did it on negative, no cable release just my finger on the shutter for 3 minutes. My hand was in agony, but it was quite a nice shot in the end, no pain no gain for ones Art.

I'm usin' a Canon EOS 7D now mate (also bought a Canon EF 70-200mm f4 L lens too, an' a carbon fibre Manfrotto tripod). The light was droppin' quickly like, I tried an 8-minute exposure after this, bu' the detail wasn't very impressive because of the droppin' light like... -

Posts: 6,896December 2011 Bid stick ruins it completely for me. Also I'd have had a lot less foreground, maybe zoomed on the sky and distant hills a bit more. I'd have moved to the left and changed the angle to include more of the interesting piece of sky.

Cheers for the critique lid. I purposely included the post to provide a sort of focal point, bu' I think yer right abar i' no' bein' needed like, should 'ave adjusted me angle like, bu' I wanted the industrial bits on the left like. I love the foreground... -

It might just be cos I'm looking at a small pic on this forum. The original is bound to be much better. Think the post is distracting cos it cuts through the horizon and draws the eye from the hills etc.
