    A great Everton player?
He played for Everton as I recall for about 18 months before receiving a jail sentence and life ban for match fixing while at Sheffield Wed.
    ffs Howie get a grip.

Ask anyone who saw him you old prune, thats if you have any footballing sense, he was a great footballer, who it is reckoned would have been an England regular but for the lfetime ban, of which in nowadays he would have been found not guilty. I really dont know why i speak to dipsticks like yourself, but if you went and listened to these great players you might learn somat. Im off now to be entertained by a great player, whatever your reply is to this, i pity you...........

Yup, he was made an example of by the FA, life ban. Went to court for 4 months for conspiracy to defraud. He was to play for Shef Weds against Ipswich managed by Alf Ramsey, who were beating everyone and especially Shef Weds who had not beaten them for years. He put his name to a piece of paper saying they'd get beat(£50), and it was a draw i think, and those who were prosecuting him gave him man of the match on the day.
It ruined him, lost his marriage and 4 kids, it was a huge scandal at the time for somat he had forgotten about even doing, it was such a throw away remark at the time, of "nah we got no chance against them, they always stuff us".
It was rekoned at the time and is written in Colin Harveys book, that he would have been playing and captaining England for years(in Nobby Styles, position) had this not happened to him.
