Baines open to Pienaar return

Sorry if this has already been mentioned in another post somewhere... quotes from Baines:

“He was one of our best, if not our best player,” said Baines. “Obviously if there is a chance for him to come back, we’d all love to have him back.

“I know he was here and left so there might maybe be a bit of animosity. But when he was here, even up until his last day he worked hard and got his head down. No matter what, he would do the same wherever he goes. He’s a worker. Top class in his quality and a grafter as well. It’s what Everton’s always been about, even the foreigners we’ve brought in have had an English mentality.

“Steven and Mikel (Arteta), at the best they’ve rolled their sleeves up and they can do the hard work as well.”

“Football changes so quickly. He was in a moment where he was in top form. He got a chance to go to a club in the Champions League and all of a sudden now he’s at a club which isn’t there, and he’s not playing.

“People might look at that and say what was the point, but I’m sure he’ll say ‘If I hadn’t have done it I wouldn’t have known’.

“You can never tell what way it was going to go. At that time he felt it was the right opportunity for him and it just hasn’t panned out as he’d probably have wanted it.”

then theres a comment from a fan after saying if Pienaar did come back he should apologise to the club, moyes and the fans first..and this really wound me up.

Yeah i dont like seeing our better players leave for more money, id love to think we were honestly the greatest club in the world and that nobody in their right mind would see another club as a better alternative.

But then i'm not so lost from reality that i dont understand these are human beings at the end of the day, not born and bred Evertonians. Yeah to us on the outside it might have seemed an obvious fact he wouldnt get a game at spurs with Bale/Lennon in the team, but if you were in that position, being told by people what a great footballer you are, how they think you're good enough to play Champions league football and be paid top money for it.. of course you're gunna believe in yourself.... it would say less about the lad if he had turned around and said... no im not good enough to get into the team... i should just stay here.

At the end of the day him or his agent and harry had a cozy little agreement that would see him get top cash and and leave for next to nothing.....only chelsea got us the cash we ended up with.

He took his wage and fancied living in London too no doubt. Life must be very sweet for him indeed, where in not for the fact he isn't playing much football.

well i'll reserve my judgement of him depending on whether he just sits and rots in the spurs team happily for the cozy life in the big smoke, or if he does look to give it up for regular football.

As I say, he's not a born and bred Evertonian, it's only realistic to think he would look after himself, i would do the same in my line of work because i'm not attached to the business.. i didnt grow up as a little boy always wanting to work for this company. if another, bigger company came along though and told me they thought i was the dogs b*llocks and offered me a shed load more cash id probably believe i was good enough and leave no matter how many friends i leave behind in my current job?

I think since he has left he has lost his form and become more injury prone and we just dont need it tbh mate.

I don't think you can judge his form to be honest because he hasn't been playing. He has been unlucky with injuries and he was been kept out of the Spurs team by Bale. I think we really miss him to be honest.

well thats true but back on topic. we miss Pienaars ability and workrate of course but do you really want someone back who didnt want to be here? i cant blame players for leaving really. we arent good but its the circumstances in which they leave. they all know they want to leave well before they do but they run down their contracts and we get peanuts for it. same with Arteta.  im reluctantly saying i dont want him back and to be honest its all paper talk, I dont think he`s ven considering it
