Posts: 545December 2011 Some years ago a small rural town in Greece twinned with a similar town in Spain.When the mayor of the Greek town paid a courtesy visit to the Spanish mayor he noted the palatial house and gardens and asked..."how could a mayor afford such a property?"The Spaniard replied " see that bridge over there? well we received an E U grant for a 4lane bridge and we built a two lane bridge and installed traffic lights".....Some 12 months later on a reciprocal visit to Greece the Spanish mayor was amazed at the beautiful villa overlooking the islands and asked his Greek counterpart how he paid for such a property."see that bridge over there"? the Greek asked. "No"! the Spaniard replied...
