Baines for Left Midfield??

I think that both Jags and Johnny are doing a great job over the last few games, we dont look like giving anything away at the back, so, and i know a few on here have said this before about Baines, when Distin comes back from injury, i would slot him in at LB, make us look really solid across the back 4, and imo, it will make us even tighter at the back, i would drop Seamus in to RB, Baines moves up to LW whipping plenty of crosses in, Drenthe on the RW cutting inside and looking to unload shots and whipping crosses in, Rodwell an Fellaini winning the balls in the middle of the park and give Vellios somebody to work with upfront. The way we seem to be playing this season, its all about whipping balls into the box, so if this is the case, give Denis and Vellios a run of games together upfront, get the ball out wide to Baines and Drenthe and lets put other teams under pressure with these crosses by having 2 big men upfront together, and actually try and get on the end of these crosses, we have 2 winnable home games coming up against Norwich and Swansea so lets give it a blast!

I like that idea. But I'd be tempted to hope that Landon comes in and we can have Baines and Drenthe down the left and Coleman and Lanicakes down the right.

that would be even better mate, would put plenty of pressure on teams we are playing knowing that the wingers and FB's could be puttiing decent crosses into the box.

I'm still a bit nervous at the thoughts of Coleman at right back. But I suppose the only way we're gonna find out if he can cut it is to throw him in the deep end. Altho if Donovan does come next month, I'd maybe keep Hibbert at right back for a couple of weeks and see how Coleman gets on in a couple of reserve games first. Maybe

lol said this at he start of the season, and everyone said no.

baines always has never been great defensively at LB, even yesterday the goal came form a needless corner due to baines losing the ball.

credit to stoke yesterday, the knew what was coming.  the hoofball from jags, they knew coleman would take on players, and hibbert and baines would produce crosses all day and they knew fellaini was the main threat in the air and took care of him.

pulis knew this and his team was set up to deal with that threat all day long.  even in the last 10 mins he knew we would throw the kitchen sink and commit our players forward as we usually do, he deliberately left crouch and walters upfront as he knew there would be a great chance to get a second and kill of the game.

team know we struggle to score so they may as well play 2 up top and go for it.  4 losses at home and we have failed to score in all of them

i would never disagree with this mate, for me, Baines looks more like an attacking left midfielder than a LB anyway at times. we just seem too scared to try anything too different.

To be fair we should've beat QPR, Rodwell wrongly sent off v L'pool, we deserved a draw v Utd, and yesterday should've had 3 Penalties?

Its a fine line, as we also only just deserved the wins over Wigan & Wolves?

I don't think anyone said no to Baines playing left midfield in it's own right! I think it's more to do with our defense. While we can play Distin at left back and play Johnny in the middle - I don't like it coz I don't like Johnny!

Plus, an injury to any one of Jags, Johnny, Distin or Baines screws the whole thing up anyway!

I don't think Distin is a left back to be honest, but its not a bad suggestion.
