December 2011 From reading the posts over the last few weeks everyone agrees that we as a team play to defensively which I completely agree with but blaming the strikers I do not agree with.

To become more attacking we need to accept that we will become weaker in defense (but we would probably enjoy the football a lot more).

If we play one up front and have no creative players in the middle we will not score many goals. I disagee Saha is lazy. I think he tries too hard to score and cannot lead a line on his own. When he drops deep we have no one infront of him and when he stays forward he does not get the ball (the same problem Yakubu faced). When Vellios started a game he was lost upfront because he got no service and ended up getting subbed at half time.

Cahill's strength is getting late into the box and scoring. He is not creative and we have enough hard working middlefielders to support a playmaker.

I don't think Moyes ruins strikers I just think he plays a system that does not give them much opportunity and the best striker in the world would struggle to score 15-20 goals at Everton. So spending big money in January for a new striker would prove a complete waste of money unless we change our formation and style and if we do this then lets give the current strikers a chance.

Every good team plays with width and I think we have good width in our team (could do with a stronger rightside) but we lack creativity in the middle. Spurs has got it right and should comfortably make the top 4 this year.

If I was picking the team I would play Coleman at right back and having him simulating Baines on the left. I would have Drenthe and possible Gueye as the wide men. Either Rodwell or Felliani as holding mid. Osman in the middle (start giving Barkley a chance in this role and maybe Billy) with Vellios and either Saha or Dennis upfront.

In January I would spend all my money on a playmaker because Osman is not good enough to hold this role.
