just seena  thread about coleman and people in the past as well are all generally saying that hes a good player but he needs to do more than just run at players and needs to improve his general game.
I'm sorry but I disagree with it completely! he is class he runs at defenders at the speed of light and more often than not makes them shake in their boots as he nut megs or skims past them. how many times has he done that this season??? atmost every  game and regularly!!
what more can you expect from a player when the ball is so far up in the oppositions half?? hes like a rugby player playing football in the way that he makes ground and were closer to the goal. the effort he puts in should be appreciated a bit more too got to say I'd much prefer we see players doing similar things as opposed to hoofing it down from the back and hoping for the best!!!

hes an everton ledgend in the making imo.

ive always said good things about Coleman. he runs at players and takes them on. yes ok sometimes he loses it and sometimes his delivery aint great but work ethic and willingness to av a go cant be scrutinized.
needs to work on his finishing though

If you do it, over and over again, people know what your going to do and he just runs into defenders losing the ball.. Saw it time and time again.. Lately he's adding short passing and some build up play, gives the defenders a lot more to worry about and when he does his lightning runs the defence is much less prepared for it, caught in two minds and overwhelmed.
I think he's a great player for us.

I think that people say that his final ball isn't good enough, but I don't think we have one player in our team who doesn't have a weakness. I thought Seamus was terrific yesterday and I hope he continues his good form.

class lol do me a favour hes a one trick pony he will have the odd decent game vs poor fullbacks who commit themselves and let him knock the ball past and use his pace, any decent full back who stands there ground confuses him, his final ball 90% of the time is terrible and his tackling considering hes a full back is poor, hes a good squad player nothing more

I don't think he is either, but I have seen him have good games against some of the better left backs.

just because he cost us nothing doesnt mean hes class, his final ball 90% of time is poor, hes not got the qualities to be top class right midfielder maybe in time he can imporve his tackling and be a decent fullback and no im not in love with donavan i just think hes a better wide player than coleman.

and hes nearly 24 you think hes going to develop anymore football wise, if he was 19/20 i may agree about the learning bit, but think what we see is what weve got not going to be vast improvement

I never said he was class, or he was class for being cheap. Of course you can develop more at his age, Donovan certainly did. I don't think you would of taken Donovan at 24?

I think he's a good honest player but, two words Trevor Steven.... and for the record he was 20 when we won the FA Cup, 21 when we won the league... and HE is a legend!

I think people's views on players are all relative to what they've seen themselves. So some of the younger forum members might not have seen enough of him to appreciate that as good a lad as Seamie is, he aint no Tricky.

Not at all mate. I was very fortunate to grow up watching THAT team. I never saw the Golden Vision play, only videos, same true for Dixie and the holy trinity, Bob Latchford etc. I would love to have seen them play. My life's experience is of strikers like Sharp, Grey, Lineker, Cottee and Big Dunc. I cannot, would not dispute that Dixie is our greatest player or the the Trinity were better than Reidy n Brace. All I mean is you might make statements/comment on players/judge players based on your own experience.  With no offence to you or any other younger member of the forum you wouldnt have seen as much of Steven as I did - you weren't alive. That's nothing against you, its a fact. It isnt a criticism - I saw us win the league and I would desperately love the likes of you and Dan to see the same. In the future I am sure you will look on players and think, nah he's no Seamus Coleman. If I had a time machine yer'd be one of the first to join me in a tip back to experience it!
