Everton Vs Bohemians

Was at the game, all looked well for us during the first 15 minutes. I know this was a friendly and a chance for Moyes to give some of the weaker squad members some game time, but in the second half we really didn't look like a premier league team at all.

Fellaini and Barkley were the only players who shone for us tonight. I know that if we were playing our best 11, we probably would have won comforatbly. But still, one would think that a team from Premier League (ranked best league in the world) would be able to completely outclass a team from the League of Ireland (ranked 33rd best league in Europe).

I know its been said a thousand times, but tonight's result really drives home the point that we need to improve our squad if we want any success. If Fellaini, Barkley, Cahill or Saha were to suffer injuries this season, it looks as though we would really struggle to improve on last years position at all, let alone finish in the top 10 (the competition has become harder).

I really hope we can sign even a half-decent striker before the end of the transfer window. Even a 3-4 million pound striker from one of the weaker European leagues (Belgian, Turkish, Danish, Austrian) would be better than frontmen we currently have except Saha, and maybe Becks (Gueye is injured so no point including him). Also what about Trezeguet, he's free!

In tonight's game Fellaini was looking far more creative than the rest of our midfield (with the exception of Barkley who well get there soon), so maybe Moyes could think about playing him as an attacking midfielder in the match against QPR and see how we go from there.

If a bid has been made for Arteta, it would be best to cash in asap. Also, sell Vic to Leicester if they really are interested. It must be obvious to Moyes at this stage that change is necessary. Let's hope the club finally stop kidding themselves by putting out positive match reports even when we play badly!

I don't think Arteta as played as well since his injury. Maybe in time he will get more confident again. but changes are needed. And if Moyes needs to sell to buy then so be it. but don't hang around Moyes!

Was at the game too and I don't agree with some of what you say.

The Negatives: I thought several of the team (including Fellaini) didnt look half arsed. They weren't even going into the tackles. Which is sensible I suppose. Always a negative is Anichebe. There was one particular shot at goal he had that was so embarrassing, I see the highlights package on the site doesn't even show it. Garbutt has a long long way to go to be a Premier League full back - he made their winger look like Messi a couple of times and the goal was totally his fault and wasn't the only diagonal ball he struggled with - He does look decent going forward though. Beckford was non existant after 9 minutes. Rodwell is still struggling for form. And what does the absense of Jagielka and Baines mean?

Positves: I though Vellios looked decent in terms of his leading of the line - but should have had a couple of goals. Barkley, a class above. Arteta was back, Mustafi loooked OK.

From a Bohemians point of view, if we're hoping to spot the next Seamus Coleman out of it, teenage Bohs defender Kevin Feeley is DEFINATLEY one to keep an eye on!!

Without him we would'nt have scored, and him and Barkley were at least winning and keeping the ball more often than most of the other team members. Fella looked way more of a threat than our forwards (hence me thinking Moyes should experiment with him as an attacking midfield against QPR). But your not completely wrong, none of them including Fellaini looked very fit, or they just looked tired and uninspired. But I wouldn't say he was shocking! :)
