    Good call, the merchant lads kept the country going. My grandfather was on a merchant ship and was killed during the famous Malta run, at least my dad was on a battleship where they could fight back.......

    I think that this year more so than in previous year the Merchant Navy have been rightfully recognised for their brave and often heroic contribution, the supply runs to the Russians in particular.I am in fact named after a family friend who at the age of sixteen sailed from Garston docks and was torpedoed on the Talapa, R.I.P brave young man and all of your fellow mariners.
