Imo we need some creativity in the middle of the park and a striker.....if the midfielders chipped in with a handful each then a striker isnt necessarily the priority imo...

Yeah we need someone to link up the play between midfield and attack. Arteta used to do it back when he was good for us and Ossie towards the end of last season and now although his form has dipped a bit. The only other players that could potentially do it for us are Barkley and Bilyaletdinov, but Moyes is reluctant to use Barkley too much right now and Billy hasn't had a chance there yet.

At the moment I think that as long as Saha stays fit (wishful thinking I know) we have got someone up there who can put away chances, he was unlucky to have hit the post at the weekend and as most of us know he is capable of something out of nothing.

We have to make due with what we have until January anyhow so why get **** off from now? Saha up front is the most stable presence we have right now, but, I don`t think he can do it alone. I would put Vellios up front with him to create some space. But then again, Moyes doesn`t do offence... IN the end.... WE NEED A STRIKER|||

Dont know if the right striker is out there to suit Moyes needs. Nearest i can think of for Moyes stubborness to play 4-5-1 to make it work is Kevin Davies, but then we havent got a midfield with enough pace to make it work. Its the reason 4-5-1 doesnt work now, we havent got the players who are quick enough to support the attack and then back track after, thats why you see the 4-5-1 in such a cautious, defensive state, they are terrified of being caught out upfield............

I hope Strac is doing well. No fellow latino, but family members must be present?

    What we need in January:

    - Playmaker - Although Arteta was poor for his last 18 months with us he still looked to get on the ball and play it to a team mate and that is something we don't have at the moment
    - Striker - stating out the obvious
    - Right back (Neville has been poor all season and althought Hibbo is a good tackler and he's playing well he's not the best going forward
    - Sub Keeper (Marcus Hahnemann's contract runs out in January and after the Chelsea I have lost ALL faith in Mucha)
    - Winger (Hopefully we can get Drenthe to sign a permanent deal with us and if not we could start looking at wingers to replace him)

Let's hope the new owners come in by January otherwise a good signing would be nothing more then fantasy.

Drenthe and Coleman are pretty quick and pacey enough to get shifting down the wings ebfore the oppoisiton can re-group... Gives a chance to get theball in behind to Cahill and Saha.. These two are great players to have when it comes to crosses normally.

You are right to a point, no way Kevin Davies, but u are right about our current midfield, we are unfortunately too slow from midfield to get into the box and threaten, we are too predictable as we have played this formation for years now.. also teams watch Baines especially this season, stopping his runs and getting more upfield!!!!

Your right about their pace on the flanks, but thats were it doesnt work, still leaves only Saha or A.N Other striker in the middle, as the middle 3 are terrified of moving up, why do you think Cahill hasnt scored for so long......

Cahill has been injured quiet a bit, dont think he is 100% fit this season, but hopefully he will be banging them in soon.. Think we should have at least kept Beckford as cover for upfront.  I know he miises a lot but also he gets a few, and we are desperate for goals this season so far...

keeping beckford wouldnt have mattered.  he wont play 2 strikers.  you can get away with 1 striker, but only if you get goal production from the mids.  we dont.  when other teams are at the edge of our box my stomach knots up.  I doubt any of our opponents feel that way whent he tables are turned.

Er, how are we expected to buy ANYONE in January when Moyes gets given his usual generous budget of £0 off our top draw, world class 'Chairman', Bill Kenwright?

I agree that we need a top class striker but we also need to be more adventurous. We play 4 5 1 every week no matter who we are playing and other team know exactly how we are going to play. We have had striker who have came to the club with big reputations such as Yakubu, Andy Johnson and James Beattie, but in truth they have been ruined by playing up front on their own. It is fair to say that we could do with a new striker but you have to be very good to play up front on your own. I think that it is obvious that we would score more goals if we would play 4 4 2 a bit more often.
