So I tuned in to the LA Galaxy-Red Bulls MLS playoff game Thursday night on ESPN, and Ian Darke was announcing. This is 8 p.m. local time in Los Angeles on Thursday, or 3 a.m. Friday in the U.K.
Ian is normally the announcer on the ESPN Saturday games, which this week will be Everton vs. Newcastle. I was trying to figure out how it would be possible for him to travel from Los Angeles to Newcastle, a distance of 8,200 km, in time for Saturday's game.
It turns out the Everton match will have Derek Rae in the ESPN broadcast booth, so I am no longer concerned about the logistics of ESPN announcers.

(By the way, it is normally eight hours time difference between the U.K. and Los Angeles, but the U.S. is still on Daylight Saving Time until Sunday, so just for this week it's seven hours difference.)

to be fair, it would be some going to get from LA to Newcastle in time to commentate, so I understand the concern
